WWE Rumours: WWE considering offering full-time deal to James Ellsworth
WWE are considering the possibility of signing James Ellsworth to a full-time contract following the reaction that he has received from the crowd and due to the soaring popularity of his merchandise. There are murmurs backstage that the officials are weighing in the options to sign Ellsworth on a full-time deal, which will enable the ‘Universally Loved Jobber’ to travel with the full-time crew for house shows etc.
According to a report on Wrestlingnews.co, the WWE officials are surprised by the popularity of James Ellsworth’s merchandise – which were initially made available as a joke. The man behind the now famous catchphrase – “Any man with two hands has a fighting chance” is definitely pushing all the right buttons.
In an interview, Ellsworth revealed that ever since his appearance on Talk is Jericho, he has been regularly getting tips from Y2J and also thanked the veteran for his precious advice. Not only this, the Jobber has also made an impression in the eyes of other SmackDown Superstars, who have also given him some valuable tips.
Ellsworth rose to fame when he was booked in a match alongside AJ Styles against the team of John Cena and Dean Ambrose. However, before he could make it to the ring, The Miz attacked him and took his place in the Tag-Team match.
Following this, he was then booked to take on WWE World Champion AJ Styles and Ellsworth – to everyone’s surprise – beat the Phenomenal One, albeit with a little help from Dean Ambrose, who was the special guest referee for the match.
This culminated in SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan affording Ellsworth a shot at the World Championship but Styles lost his cool during the match and started unloading on the Jobber while he was against the ropes, forcing the referee to award the win to Ellsworth via disqualification. However, Ellsworth did not win the title as he was awarded the win via disqualification.
