WWE Rumours: WWE planning a possible match between Roman Reigns and Conor McGregor
UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor’s WWE references, though generally scathing in nature, have only increased in number these past few press conferences that he has participated in.
This has led to widespread speculation that McGregor may show up in the WWE one day, especially since the UFC’s other megastar, Ronda Rousey, already has. In his last press conference, held to promote his upcoming Lightweight Title bout at UFC 205, McGregor was even directly quizzed by a reporter if he would consider making an appearance in the WWE.
Surprisingly, especially for someone who has been so unflattering with his comments on the pro-wrestling industry as a whole, McGregor said that he would consider it should the money be right.
While all the talk has mostly been one sided till now, latest rumours seem to suggest that even the WWE may be looking into the possibility of having McGregor step into the squared circle. Early speculation seems to suggest that if he does, his possible opponent may be none other than the Big Dog, Roman Reigns.
Reigns is currently embroiled in a feud against Rusev for the United States Championship and they are slated to face each other at Hell in a Cell. Given that Roman is expected to retain the title, it would be interesting to see what storyline he is book in next, especially considering that there are no clear cut contenders after Rusev.
Even if McGregor is incorporated into the storylines, it would have to be after November 12th when he faces Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight Title. The President of the UFC, Dana White, revealed that McGregor is going to make a ‘left field’ announcement after his UFC 205 fight.
With speculation mounting about a potential WWE appearance, there is no reason to completely write off the chances of one day seeing McGregor and Reigns inside the same ring.
