WWE Rumours: WWE planning Triple H vs. Seth Rollins for WWE Survivor Series
WWE Clash of Champions will be emanating from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis this Sunday. Out of the many exciting matches on the card, the most important one will be the main event featuring Seth Rollins staking his claim for the WWE Universal Championship against the current champion Kevin Owens.
There is a strong possibility that the match will feature an interference by Triple H. Triple H is the reason behind Kevin Owens holding the title in the first place. On 29 August, four superstars were set to go against each other in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination match with the winner being crowned the new Universal Champion. Big Cass, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins put up a great show with Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley watching from ringside.
But it wasn’t smooth sailing for RAW management when Triple H appeared out of nowhere. Two pedigrees later, Triple H was raising the hands of Kevin Owens as the new WWE Universal Champion. That’s right – Rollins had finally been betrayed by ‘The Game’. This meant that WWE were sowing the seeds for a huge rivalry between Hunter and Rollins with a blow off at WrestleMania.
But since then, Triple H has not appeared on RAW and hasn’t given any reason for his attack on Rollins. That brings us to Sunday’s Clash of Champions pay-per-view. It is rumoured that Triple H will return and cost Seth another chance to become the WWE Universal Champion. But in doing so, WWE will be awfully hesitant to postpone their match till WrestleMania. The biggest event of the year is still 6 months away and holding on to the feud for so long cold make the fans lose interest.
Nothing is certain when it comes to WWE and their booking decisions. If ‘The Game’ were to in fact return on Sunday and cost Rollins yet another shot at the title, then it is almost certain that WWE are not looking to prolong this rivalry beyond Survivor Series.
Whenever it happens, this match will shoot Rollins to the top of the roster as the biggest babyface in the company. WWE had similar plans when they had booked Triple H against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32 but those plans fell flat due to the fans’ perspective of Roman Reigns. But this is the perfect platform to launch Seth as the face of the company and who better to pass the torch than ‘The Game’ himself.
