WWE: Ryback and the case of having in-ring chemistry

Was the match at Battleground between Punk and Ryback great? No. Was it good? No.

Is the Heyman and Ryback alliance interesting? Yes. Is the Heyman-Punk interaction on the mic great? Yes.

So the feud continues and even though Punk and Ryback could not create magic together in the ring, this feud is sure giving Ryback some momentum.

The way Heyman tells him what CM Punk thinks about the monster and the way Ryback treats bullies seemingly oblivious to his own bully behaviour, is something that has added an interesting characteristic to Ryback and while Ryback is being carefully looked after, Curtis Axel is not.

He clearly needs some characteristics. He is having a feud with R-Truth, but that has added nothing to his character and this week he faces R-Truth on Smackdown for the Intercontinental Championship. That surely is not a good sign.

What if Axel loses? Does his alliance with Heyman continue? Or does he slowly get shifted away from Heyman’s side and even if that move is not answered on screen, that clearly is not an issue in WWE as hardly does it ever not do anything illogical. It’s the theatre of the absurd.

What I would like to propose is a feud for Ryback. I have suggested it earlier as well, but it seems that it clearly needs more attention.

We all know that Ryback is built up to be a monster. One who is pick-up-things strong. So many like that have come and gone in the WWE. The USP Ryback has, is power, and with his improving mic skills, everything only gets better but in the WWE it does take two to tango or wrestle. Wrestling will get you far but having a character with depth to portray is much, much better.

Ryback certainly has presence. And given the amount of screen time of dominance he enjoys he has clearly added on to that presence in one year. But he has not had any memorable opponents. Not Punk, not Cena. The Shield were great, but they were three. In One on One competition Ryback clearly lacks some chemistry. Unless, I think, if it’s Brock Lesnar( Say his name the way Heyman does)

As has been earlier reported there was a backstage clash between the two and Lesnar clearly dominated. But TheBeast coming back to face the monster will be a much better way to cement his position as a Paul Heyman guy and as a powerhouse. Lesnar and Ryback can have a memorable match. Apart from Lesnar, I find it really hard to think of any other superstar, storyline wise, challenging Ryback.

But after Lesnar’s gone or if we just swish this thought of a Lesnar match aside, who do we really have, who could have great in ring chemistry with Ryback? That’s a question that needs to have an answer.
