WWE's plan for Cody Rhodes & Gunther after crowning a double champion at Crown Jewel - Reports

Cody Rhodes and Gunther are ruling WWE on RAW and SmackDown respectively. According to a new report, the management has discussed what's next for the stars when one of them becomes a double champion.

Earlier this year, Cody Rhodes entered a feud with Kevin Owens following the conclusion of WWE Bad Blood in Atlanta. Meanwhile, Gunther came face-to-face with Damian Priest, who stated that he would earn his way back to the top and face The Ring General for the World Heavyweight Championship again.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), after one of them becomes a double champion, their next likely title defense takes place in December at Saturday Night's Main Event. Rhodes is slated to defend against Owens and Gunther is expected to put his title on the line against Priest.

Currently, the plans that were discussed and not set in stone. There's a possibility they can change or be twaeked in the coming weeks. However, both champions, regardless of winning the Crown Jewel Championship are expected to defend their primary titles before the end of the year.

Why are Cody Rhodes and Gunther competing against each other at WWE Crown Jewel?

Earlier this year, Gunther reached the top of the food chain and won the World Heavyweight Championship from Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam. Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes continued his feud with The Bloodline and prevailed against Solo Sikoa with Roman Reigns' help.

However, a clash between two top champions in the Stamford-based promotion is inevitable. Earlier this month, Triple H announced the company's return to Saudi Arabia with a shocking twist. It was revealed both top champions from the men's and women's divisions will face each other.

The prize would be to become the inaugural Men's and Women's Crown Jewel Champion in Saudi Arabia. Current Women's World Champion Liv Morgan and WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax will lock horns at the PLE in November 2024 for the Women's Crown Jewel Title. Meanwhile, Gunther and Cody Rhodes will go head to head for men's belt.
