WWE signs top indie star, Rey Mysterio tweets on why he left the WWE, John Cena

WWE has recently signed indie star Athena who will be reporting to the WWE Performance Center

-She probably won't get fast tracked to a WWE name and NXT debut like Kana/Asuka, but will be joining the Japanese star & Rich Swann at the Performance Center in a few weeks. As noted, indie star Athena has signed with WWE and will be reporting to the Performance Center when she finishes up her indy dates.

Last night, Athena wrestled two matches at the WSU Excellence iPPV in Voorhees, New Jersey. She defeated Sumie Sakai in the first match and then lost to Hania in the main event. After the match, she reportedly gave what was described as a very touching farewell speech.

The Wrestling Goddess, Athena, has been one of the biggest names in the small pond of women's independent wrestling for the past couple of years. A dynamic athlete in a small package, the 27-year-old Texan is capable of technical wrestling and impressive aerial spots - including her amazing finisher The O-Face, a diving, rotating stunner from the top rope. After years of bringing in women with no pro wrestling background, Athena is part of a wave of more experience females being signed by Triple H, along with Asuka and Billie Kay, with whom she's worked several times.

-WWE’s website has a new poll asking fans who is more polarizing- John Cena or New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. With over 1,000 votes, Cena is leading with 69%.

-After developing a massive worldwide following in WWE, Rey Mysterio Jr. has returned to his roots in Mexico and AAA. Since Rey Mysterio left the WWE earlier in early 2014 and has since traveled the world, wrestling for various promotions and living a lighter schedule than the WWE afforded him. Nevertheless, since Mysterio left, fans have clamored to find out if he would ever come back and if he left the industry’s largest promotion on good terms.

While he has given numerous interviews on the subject, many still ask the masked superstar on social media in hopes of such a return happening sooner than later. On Sunday, Mysterio took to his Twitter account commented on his WWE departure earlier this year and said that things are good between him and the company. Mysterio posted:
