WWE SmackDown: 3 huge mistakes made on this week's show before WrestleMania 35 (April 2, 2019)

WWE wanted to hit another home run with this week's episode of SmackDown to complete the build for WrestleMania 35.

We are only a few days away from the mega event now, and WWE did everything they could to ensure that they highlight each and every match from the blue brand which will take place at The Showcase of Immortals.

We will see Samoa Joe walk into the event as a champion for the first time in his career, and Ricochet and Aleister Black compete for a title at the mega show for the first time.

Apart from that, a dream match between Randy Orton and Aj Styles has been set, and it could prove to be the best non-title match of the night.

While WWE tried hard to highlight each and every match for the night, they still managed to make a few major mistakes.

Let's take a look at 3 huge mistakes made on this week's SmackDown Live, and how they might affect the matches on Sunday.

#3 Letting Asuka stand tall

WWE hasn't done enough to build on the two Battle Royals that will take place at WrestleMania. The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal will be for the men, while the women will compete in a Women's Battle Royal.

SmackDown took notice and set up a mixed 18-person tag team match to hype both the battle royals in one go. As there were so many superstars involved, a brawl broke out which saw bodies being thrown everywhere and Asuka was the only one standing tall in the ring at the end of it.

While Asuka would be the perfect choice to win the Battle Royal after she lost the SmackDown Women's Championship, we all know that standing tall before a big match usually leads to something bad.

Lacey Evans was rumored to receive a major push and challenge Asuka for the Women's Championship at WrestleMania had Asuka still been holding the title. This means that there is now a chance that the battle royal will boil down to these two women on Sunday, and Evans will eliminate Asuka to win the match.
