WWE SmackDown: 3 huge mistakes made this week on the Road to WrestleMania (March 26, 2019)
SmackDown was a mixed Up-Up-Down-Down this week as a few segments feel apart, while the main event of the night gave the fans what they’d been begging for.
The New Day opened up the night talking about how they were even thinking about leaving the company before Vince made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Asuka lost her SmackDown Women’s Championship to her WrestleMania 34 opponent in a shocking turn of events, similar to what WWE pulled off with AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan before Survivor Series last year.
The Miz cut a brilliant promo that helped build on his match against Shane McMahon for the grand stage, while Randy Orton’s actions sent the fans home unhappy.
Throughout the night, WWE made three very big mistakes which they could have avoided and made the show even better with a focus on WrestleMania.
Take a look at these mistakes below, and share your favorite moments from the show in the comments section!
#3 Gave The New Day the opportunity
Kofi Kingston deserves to be in the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 35 no matter what. Even if it involves having The New Day disband.
Last week, Kofi made history by overcoming his originally scheduled match and coming out as the victor against all his opponents before Vince added Daniel Bryan as his last opponent and ruining the party.
This week, Vince gave Big E and Xavier Woods a chance to get their buddy a shot at the championship. While this makes a great story, especially keeping in mind how much Big E and Xavier want to see Kofi as the WWE Champion, it does injustice to Kofi himself.
Kofi rightfully earned a chance to challenge for the championship last week before getting swindled, and with The New Day earning him the chance this week, the story kind of falls apart again as Kofi will be getting the shot only thanks to his two teammates and not himself.
