The better matches at Super ShowDown which included superstars such as Andrade, Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Dolph Ziggler, and Kofi Kingston all originated from the SmackDown brand. This shows exactly how much talent the blue brand’s roster has.

The wave of new talent coming in has also provided WWE a lot of new direction and potential, but they are yet to exploit it to the fullest and gain the maximum benefit. The 24/7 Championship, however, has given WWE some chance to ensure that the newer superstars stay in the mix.

On this week’s SmackDown, there were a lot of hints and clues in the segments that unfolded which have given us a taste of what might come in the future.

In this article, we take a look at the 3 things we learned from this week’s SmackDown, and what it might mean for the future of the superstars involved and the storylines.

#3 Elias will remain a mid-card superstar

For months we’ve been expecting Elias to somehow break the shackles and become a top superstar on either the Raw or SmackDown brand. Elias has gotten some high profile matches in recent months and even competed against top superstars at major pay-per-views. However, the outcome of his matches has largely remained the same throughout.

When Elias first broke onto the scene, it seemed as though Vince will push in considering his looks, physique, and mic skills. This did not immediately happen, though he became a popular superstar on television.

After being termed SmackDown’s Greatest Acquisition, it was expected he would finally get his big break. Even though hopes were up, the creatives punched them down. Even last night, Elias walked down with Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre on SmackDown but was the only one among the three men to lose his match.

It seems like the WWE Universe should leave any hope they have for the talented superstar, and continue to see him as just another jobber for the elites.
