WWE Smackdown Results: 19th July 2016, WWE Draft updates
SmackDown’s live premiere comes to us from the DCU Center in Worcester Massachusetts. The enormity of the first WWE Draft in five years wasn’t lost on the IWC, with SmackDown Live trending all through the interwebz. Here are all the results from the matches on SmackDown Live:
– The show kicks off with Raw getting Seth Rollins as the first overall pick. Dean Ambrose gets drafted to SmackDown Live. So that begs the question – where will the WWE Championship reside, at least until next Monday? We’ll find out after tonight’s main event.
– Finn Balor and WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte get drafted to Raw, AJ Styles goes to SmackDown. You can get the full list of drafted Superstars here.
– John Cena and Luke Gallows face each other in the first match in SmackDown Live history. The Club and Enzo and Cass are ringside. Styles and Anderson try to get involved, but get dumped outside the ring. Cena hits the AA on Gallows for the win.
– Champions versus Challengers next as Intercontinental Champion The Miz and United States Champion Rusev face the team of Darren Young and Zack Ryder. Young hits the Gut Check on Miz but Rusev saves the match.
The LIIZ Dropkicks Rusev outside the ring and Young submits The Miz with the Crossface Chickenwing. Darren Young and Zack Ryder beat Miz and Rusev.
– Bray Wyatt reminds New Day despite the fact that they escaped his compound, he still is the face of fear. Woods is hypnotized by Wyatt, but he snaps out of it and gives all he’s got. He comes up short and Wyatt hits Sister Abigail for the win.
– Kevin Owens is up against Kane next, but the match never takes off because Sami Zayn attacks The Prizefighter before the bell rings. They brawl into the ring, where they get double Chokeslammed by The Demon.
– Sasha Banks has her back to the wall in a two-on-one handicap match against WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte and Dana Brooke. The Boss spits fire but gets drowned by the champ and her right hand. Charlotte hits Natural Selection for the win.
– Natalya versus Alicia Fox never gets started because Becky Lynch attacks Natalya for ambushing her last night on Raw.
– Cesaro takes on Chris Jericho next. Good, compact, back-and-forth match, but Y2J surprisingly gets the win with the Codebreaker. Another filler feud?
– Dean Ambrose looks to erase all doubt that he is the WWE Champion for a reason by giving Seth Rollins a rematch for the title. The man who believed he beat Ambrose last night on Raw attacks the champ before the match even begins.
Ambrose is reeling by the time the bell rings, but comes back into the match. Rollins has an answer to everything Ambrose throws at him. He hits a Superplex on Ambrose and hoists him for the Falcon Arrow, but Ambrose slips free and hits Dirty Deeds. Ambrose pins him for the win. He will head into Battleground with the WWE Championship and momentum.
