WWE SmackDown Results: Bloodline threatens 20-time champ, top star makes big changes to match contract

WWE SmackDown kicked off with a recap of The King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments before The Bloodline, LA Knight, Jade Cargill, Nia Jax, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Carmelo Hayes arrived at the arena.

The first match of the night began shortly after.

WWE SmackDown Results (May 17, 2024): Bianca Belair vs. Tiffany Stratton - Queen of the Ring Tournament Quarterfinals

Belair had the upper hand early on and sent Stratton into the corner before the latter came back with some strike and used Bianca's hair to trip her. Belair got the takedown before Stratton got a near fall off the moonsault.

Bianca came back with a fallaway slam, and Stratton reversed a KOD. She sent Belair into the corner before getting a German Suplex and a chop block. Belair managed to kick out repeatedly before getting the KOD for the win.

Backstage on SmackDown, Tama Tonga was pacing back and forth before Solo told him to leave. Tanga Loa left with Tama, and Paul Heyman asked Solo if he had spoken to Roman Reigns today, and Sikoa replied, 'All the time.'


LA Knight was in an interview about the upcoming match before Carmelo Hayes showed up to introduce himself.


LA Knight vs. Tama Tonga - King of the Ring Tournament match on WWE SmackDown

Knight got some big strikes before Tonga caught him in a sleeper hold. LA broke the hold, but Tonga came back with a massive lariat. Knight returned with a back-body drop before getting a big boot in the corner.

Tama Tonga was taking a beating in the corner when Tonga Loa dragged him outside. Knight headed outside and dropkicked Loa before getting in Solo's face. Solo didn't join the brawl, and Knight headed back inside before Tama hit the reverse STO finisher off the distraction for the win.

Result: Tama Tonga def. LA Knight

Nick Aldis was out for the match contract signing and called Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul out for it.

After Cody was done reminiscing about WarGames 1992, which was 32 years ago, Logan came out and said that he had brought his own lawyer to change the contract since he thought it was unfair that he had to put his title on the line, but Cody did not.

Logan had the terms changed. Now, only the Undisputed Championship was on the line at the PLE. Nick Aldis tried to protest, but Cody said he was getting angry for no reason.

Cody asked Aldis to head backstage before signing the new contract.

Logan tried to get a cheap shot on Cody, but the latter ducked and took out one of his guys. Cody took the US Title and showed it around before tossing it back to Paul and heading backstage.


Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax - Queen of the Ring Tournament match on WWE SmackDown

Jax was in control early on, and Jade hit a massive slam before the match headed outside. Nia returned with some strikes and sent Cargill into the barricades before Jade shoved her back into the announce desk. Nia sent Jade into the ring post and mocked her daughter sitting at ringside. This led to Cargill becoming enraged.

Jax sent Jade into the timekeeper's area with a clothesline before tossing some chairs around. The chair came into play, but Jade snatched it away from Jax and hit her with it. The referee saw it and disqualified Cargill.

Result: Nia Jax def. Jade Cargill via DQ

The brawl continued after the match, and the women headed backstage to resume the fight.

DIY vs. Legado Del Fantasma on WWE SmackDown

A-Town Down Under was on commentary for the match, and Berto started things off with Gargano in the ring. Johnny got a big takedown before Ciampa came out, sent them both outside, and hit double-team dives to the floor.

Angel reversed a move and turned things around for a bit before Elektra Lopez interfered and was sent backstage. DIY came in with Meet in the Middle off the distraction and picked up the win.

Result: DIY def. Legado Del Fantasma

The commentators apologized for the recent broadcast interruptions with the QR codes.

They even showed a clip from the Twitch link last week involving what seemed to be The Fiend.


Bayley was backstage when Chelsea Green and Piper Niven showed up to mock her. Before SmackDown moved on, The Role Model challenged them to a match for next week.


Randy Orton vs. Carmelo Hayes - King of the Ring Tournament match on WWE SmackDown

Carmelo got the first takedown before Randy took him to the corner and unloaded with uppercuts. Melo was slammed thrice into the announce desk outside before dropping him a fourth time on it.

Back after a break on SmackDown, Melo tried to get the punt kick but took a powerslam. Randy shook off some strikes to the knee and hit the draping DDT before getting ready for the RKO.

Melo dodged the big move and went for a roll-up, getting a near fall. Randy turned a springboard dive from Melo into the RKO before picking up the win.

Result: Randy Orton def. Carmelo Hayes

Randy was in the post-match interview when Tama Tonga showed up with the Bloodline to threaten him. Orton called them out and said that he was not one to be intimidated. The 20-time champ warned them about the dangers of the RKO before SmackDown went off the air.
