WWE Smackdown results - July 25, 2014
The Tuesday tapings of WWE Smackdown from Orlando, Florida, aired on Friday night as usual as WWE Battleground fallout week was wrapped up. Featuring for the Main Event match of the night was a singles bout between Roman Reigns and Alberto Del Rio while Dean Ambrose and Antonio Cesaro squared off in a No Disqualification match.
Here are all the results from the show.
The Usos vs Rybaxel
Smackdown opened with tag-team action as Rybaxel were up against Tag-Team champions The Usos. Fresh from a much needed victory against Kofi Kingston and Big E on last Monday Night Raw, Ryback and Axel looked to take a step ahead into becoming the next title contenders to The Usos belts who themselves were brimming with confidence from the 2-out-of-3 falls victory over Luke Harper and Eric Rowan at Battleground.
And during the peak point of the match, Curtis Axel was able to knock Jey Uso off the Apron but did not see his brother, Jimmy Uso’s clever move of laying just beside the fallen Jey. Axel tossed in Jimmy without noticing the legal opponent in the match and paid for it as Jimmy surprised Axel with a roll-up for the three-count and picked up a win for his team.
Winner: The Usos
The Miz TV
Emerging as Intercontinental champion from the Battle Royal at Battleground, The Miz hosted The Miz TV segment of Smakcdown where he delivered his acceptance speech, thanking The Authority, his publicists and parents in the process. But above all he thanked the most powerful influence in his life, his “Moneymaker”, gesturing to his face. Out came Bo Dallas who entered the ring after taking a victory lap. The undefeated superstar stated that the Miz won because he Bo-lieved in himself. The Miz also acknowledged Bo and said that he has a fan in The Miz.
But their get-along moment was cut short by Dolph Ziggler who came out and insulted both of his opposite numbers before attacking the “Moneymaker.” Bo Dallas attacked “The Show-Off” from behind, giving the Intercontinental Champion the chance to escape.
Dolph Ziggler vs Bo Dallas
As a result of their clash, The Authority declared an impromptu match to settle their differences inside the squared circle. But Dolph’s focus shifted towards the commentary table where Miz was seated at. He tried to embarrass the IC champ by pretending to kick him. But the Miz distracted him shortly after costing him the opportunity to end Bo Dallas’ streak.
After the match, Bo Dallas tried to perform a second victory lap but was taken out By Ziggler with a straight kick to his face. The Miz attacked Ziggler from behind and send him face first into the steel ring post, leaving him flat on the floor outside the ring.
Winner: Bo Dallas
