WWE SmackDown Results: Roman Reigns returns for big match with top champion; 'Loser leaves SmackDown' match announced

Triple H welcomed us to the Season Premiere of WWE SmackDown on USA Network before we headed for the first match of the night.

The steel cage was lowered, and the crowd went wild as Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes headed out to start things off.


WWE SmackDown Results (September 13, 2024):

WWE SmackDown Results: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa - Steel Cage match for the Undisputed WWE Championship

The champ started strong and hit a bulldog before slamming Solo into the chain link walls of the cage thrice. Solo countered a big move and sent Cody into the cage wall before getting a hip attack against the steel. Solo got a flying headbutt, and Cody's head was bloody as he tried to climb up and out of the cage.

Solo dragged Cody down before getting some headbutts on the bloodied forehead of the champ. Cody took two powerbombs into the cage wall before getting a big Cody Cutter from atop the cage wall. Both men ended up on top of the cage before Solo got a massive Superplex/Brainbuster from the top!

Sikoa hit two spinning Solos for a near fall before Cody blocked the Samoan Spike and hit the Disaster Kick, followed by the Cody Cutter. Solo returned with a frog splash before Cody tried to crawl out of the ring but was dragged back into the ring.

The champ hit Cross Rhodes before climbing to the top of the cage and diving down for a crossbody!

Cody tried to leave, but Solo slammed the door in his face. Solo went for the spike again but took the Cross Rhodes before Cody picked up the win!

Result: Cody Rhodes def. Solo Sikoa to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship on SmackDown

Grade: A


The Bloodline showed up after the match and climbed into the cage as Solo got the champ with the Samoan Spike.

The Bloodline kicked Cody down in the ring before Jacob Fatu got a big dive from the top rope and then was about to hit one more from on top of the cage.

Roman Reigns' music hit, and the Original Tribal Chief showed up and got inside the cage! Roman closed the cage door before unloading on Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Solo got Roman from behind and took him down, but Roman came back with the Superman Punch.

Roman was about to hit Solo with a spear, but Jacob dragged him out of the cage. Reigns called Fatu back inside the ring, and The Samoan Werewolf got back in the cage, but Solo dragged him outside.

The Tongans attacked Roman in the cage, but Cody got back up and joined Roman, and the two took Tama and Loa down. Roman and Solo stared at each other as SmackDown moved on.


WWE SmackDown Results: Piper Niven vs. Michin

Piper Niven was sent outside before Michin got a big dive to the outside. A distraction from Chelsea Green allowed Piper to get the advantage, but Michin dropped Niven from the top rope with a big suplex.

Piper took Eat Defeat before Michin got the win.

Result: Michin def. Piper Niven on SmackDown

Chelsea and Piper attacked Michin after the match, and Green brought a trash can before hitting the Uprettyher on it.

Grade: C


Rob Van Dam, Vickie Guererro, and Gunther were in the front row for SmackDown, as well as Ludwig Kaiser.


Kevin Owens was out next to face A-Town Down Under. Owens let us know that his tag team partner failed to show up, and a guy called Ricky was now filling in.

Just before the match started, a crew member came in to let Owens know that his tag partner had shown up, and KO walked up to Ricky and hit him with a surprise. Randy Orton showed up and got a big reaction from the crowd as he joined the match.


WWE SmackDown Results: Kevin Owens & Randy Orton vs. A-Town Down Under

Theory dragged Waller out of the way of a big move in the ring before KO and Orton headed outside and took them out. Waller and Theory were sent into the announce desk before Waller got back up and dropped KO with a side slam.

After a SmackDown break, Owens blocked a superplex from Waller before getting the Swanton Bomb on Theory. Waller dragged Orton off the apron before Owens took him out on the outside.

Randy finally got power slams on both opponents before dropping them on the announce desk. Owens and Orton hit the double-draping DDT before getting a Stunner/RKO combo for the win.

Result: Kevin Owens & Randy Orton def. A-Town Down Under on SmackDown

We learned from Nick Aldis that Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu vs. Roman Reign & Cody Rhodes was planned for Bad Blood.

Cody walked in and said that he was done with the Bloodline and that they were Roman's problem now. Aldis left to speak with Roman Reigns as SmackDown moved on.


We saw Booker T, Sharmell, Sheamus, and Michael P.S. Hayes in the crowd as SmackDown continued.


Nia Jax was out next and said every woman in the locker room feared her. She said she had a title match at Bad Blood but didn't care who it was against since she would annihilate them.

Bayley showed up and said that she wanted her rematch. Jax said she was in no position to demand anything, and Bayley reminded her that Nia needed Tiffany Stratton to win at SummerSlam.

Tiffany Stratton showed up and said that Bayley was a peasant for begging for a title match. Nia threatened to beat Bayley up before Naomi showed up to even the odds.

Naomi said she wanted a title match before Nia proposed that Bayley and Naomi face Jax and Tiffany, and the winner would get a title match.

After Bayley and Nia agreed, Jax told them that whoever loses must leave SmackDown permanently! Jax walked out, and Bayley made fun of Stratton before Tiffany tried to attack her and Naomi.

Naomi took her out with the rearview before Stratton ran off with Jax.


Ron Simmons, Teddy Long, William Regal, Bobby Roode, and Damian Priest were all spotted in the audience before we headed for the next match.


WWE SmackDown Results: Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes

Carmelo attacked Andrade before the bell and unloaded on him before the referee separated them. The bell rang, and Melo was tossed outside before Andrade got a big moonsault to the floor.

They were on top of the barricades, and Andrade hit a Spanish Fly onto the floor! Back after a break, Andrade got the double knees in the corner before countering a big move on the ropes. Andrade got The Message from the top rope before getting the win.

Result: Andrade def. Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown

LA Knight showed up after the match to congratulate Andrade on the win and said he might have earned a United States Championship match but wouldn't be able to take it.

Grade: B


Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill were backstage when Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton came in to threaten them and Naomi.


Roman Reigns was out next, and Nick Aldis was about to speak to him, but the Original Tribal Chief demanded the mic.

Roman said that he didn't need Aldis, Cody Rhodes, or a partner; this was a family business. With or without the Ula Fala, he was the only Tribal Chief and would take care of business.

Cody Rhodes said he had a problem with Roman, claiming it was his ring and his WWE. Cody said, 'It was, but it hasn't been since WrestleMania.' Both men tossed their mics before Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu appeared.

Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa attacked Reigns and Rhodes from behind. Rhodes came back with a Cody Cutter, and Reigns hit the Uranage before Roman picked up the match contract and signed it.

Rhodes also asked for the contract, and Roman reluctantly handed it to him before Cody signed it. The tag match is now official for Bad Blood! SmackDown went off the air as Roman and Cody stared down the Bloodline from the ring.
