WWE star given time off for legal troubles? Randy Orton grants wish backstage

Randy Orton grants wish backstage at Live Event in Long Island

It appears WWE has given Heath Slater some time off while he deals with his legal issues stemming from an alleged assault incident at the hotel following a WrestleMania 27 after-party.

As we noted on December 3rd, a misdemeanor arrest warrant was issued for Slater. Slater issued a statement saying he was innocent and he was confident that the charges would be dismissed. WWE also issued a statement and said they would take appropriate action once they received details on the warrant. After that, WWE Superstar Bad News Barrett tweeted his support for Slater.

Slater’s last match came at the November 25th SmackDown tapings, just a week before the warrant was issued. NXT star Tyler Breeze is apparently replacing Slater on the current holiday tour. He teamed with Titus O’Neil and Hornswoggle to lose to Los Matadores and El Torito at Friday night’s live event in Chicago.

As reported earlier, Randy Orton was pulled at the last minute from last night’s WWE live event on Long Island due to a suggested injury during his comeback match against Kane at the house show in MSG. Orton was backstage at the show as he granted a Make-A-Wish wish. Below are photos from his meeting with Juan:
