WWE SummerSlam predictions - Part 1

Rob Van Dam

SummerSlam will take place on this coming Sunday night, and it actually has the potential to be one of the best Summerslam PPVs of all time.

The match card is pretty stacked from top to bottom, with every match looking to have the potential of being entertaining. Let’s take a look at the card and make some predictions.

WWE United States Championship (Pre-Show): Dean Ambrose (Champion) vs. Rob Van Dam - It’s too bad this match has been relegated to the pre-show, especially since it’s for what is considered the top mid-card championship in the company by many.

And because of that, I don’t expect a title change. While RVD has been performing well since returning to WWE, the only reason he’s in this match is because he won a battle royal earlier tonight, giving the match very little build-up.

While Ambrose won’t be the champion forever, he will likely lose it to someone with a little more momentum and a little more build-up than what RVD has been given. Plus, a win over a former WWE Champion will give him a lot of credibility, so the smart money is on Ambrose.

WWE Tag Team Championship: Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins (Champions) vs. ??? Although this match has not been officially announced, it is likely it will happen.

Reigns and Rollins issued a challenge on RAW for any team to face them for the titles at the PPV, so expect the match to happen. As for the opponents, it’s pretty obvious they will likely be The Big Show and Mark Henry. Both men have been feuding with The Shield for a while now, and a match between the two sides (albeit a 2-on-3 handicap match) has been rumored for Summerslam for a while. Official confirmation is awaited though.

Now that Show is back from injury, there’s no reason this match shouldn’t go down. Should Show and Henry be the team that accepts the open challenge, I fully expect new champions to be crowned.

Intergender Tag Team Match: Big E. Langston and WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee vs. Kaitlyn and Dolph Ziggler This match has also been rumored for a while and has been built up ever since Ziggler lost the World title.

Right now, Langston and Lee have dominated the feud, with both picking up wins over their respective opponents in recent weeks. Because of that, it would make sense to have Ziggler and Kaitlyn get their win back.

Plus, the feud may continue after this show, especially considering that AJ is the Divas Champion, and if that’s the case, it makes even more sense to give the win to Kaitlyn and Ziggler. One side losing all the time benefits no one in the long run.
