WWE News: WWE Superstars react to newly revealed PWI 500
What's the story?
As previously reported, Pro Wrestling Illustrated recently revealed their annual PWI 500 and there have been a number of wrestlers making comments regarding the list, including some from WWE.
In case you didn't know...
Pro Wrestling Illustrated began publishing an annual list called the PWI 500 in 1991. On the list, PWI staff ranks professional wrestlers from all over the world, from many different promotions including WWE, NJPW, and NWA, just to name a few.
PWI writers submit their rankings after carefully analysing countless stars, using a format that PWI developed specifically for the PWI 500.
Since the inaugural edition of the PWI 500, Jushin 'Thunder' Liger has made the list every single year. Liger is the only wrestler to achieve this remarkable feat.
The heart of the matter
Samoa Joe took to social media to offer advice to his colleagues who may be having a difficult time dealing with their place in the latest edition of the PWI 500. Following Joe's tweet, Baron Corbin also chimed in with his two cents.
Here's a quick look at some of the other reactions from around the wrestling world. -
Author's take
I always look forward to this time of the year. Personally, I appreciate the time, research and effort put forth by the PWI staff while compiling this incredible list.
One thing I did find interesting, much like some of the others who have voiced their displeasure, was the fact that Cody Rhodes didn't crack the top ten. In fact, he didn't even make the top 20. Cody came in at #33, despite having one heck of a year. Other than that, the list looks very solid.
It's worth noting that Bray Wyatt came in at #15, which was a significant jump from last year when the "Eater of Worlds" was ranked #56.
