WWE Survivor Series Rumors Roundup 2019: Why heated match was cancelled, Any title changes?
WWE Survivor Series takes place tomorrow night and this year's iteration of the PPV will see NXT squaring off with RAW and SmackDown for the first time. The NXT Championship will also be defended on the show following NXT TakeOver: WarGames on the previous night.
With Survivor Series less than 48 hours away, let's take a look at the latest rumors regarding one of the biggest PPV's of 2019.
Original plans for title change scrapped
We start up with cancelled plans for a title change at Survivor Series. Dave Meltzer recently spoke about this in a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer said that Nakamura was initially slated to defend his title at Survivor Series but plans later changed and he was put in the triple threat with AJ Styles and Roderick Strong.
Meltzer said that Daniel Bryan was originally supposed to be in that match but was later moved to face The Fiend instead:
“Daniel Bryan, I believe was going to be in the match with Roderick Strong and AJ [Styles], which would have been an absolutely incredible three-way. I just know that Nakamura was losing the title to someone. He was being programmed with Bryan. It could have been Ali (that he would have lost the title to). When Bryan got moved into the Wyatt match, Nakamura is now not losing so that has changed. So they changed that booking. The rest of the card is largely announced.”
No title changes at Survivor Series
Only two main roster titles will be defended at WWE Survivor Series. We have The Fiend defending his WWE Universal Championship against Daniel Bryan while Brock Lesnar defends the WWE Championship against Rey Mysterio.
Cageside Seats is reporting that neither of these titles are expected to change hands:
"There aren’t expected to be any title changes at Survivor Series, and both title programs will likely go all the way up to, and possibly through, Royal Rumble."
