WWE Talking Smack Recap – 09/05/17 Edition
John Bradshaw Layfield was the man to join Renee Young as co-host for this week’s edition of Talking Smack emanating from London, England. It seems as if Shane McMahon wasn’t overly keen on the idea of travelling overseas for the show, with SD Live General Manager Daniel Bryan currently awaiting the arrival of his daughter, Birdie.
In what was a slightly different episode of the popular talk show, there were more backstage interviews as opposed to actual guests within the studio. The fact that the show from the O2 Arena was pre-taped this week might have had something to do with it, with several blue brand stars providing Renee and JBL with plenty of talking points – pun not intended.
Things kicked off with some back and forth between the two hosts with JBL complimenting Sami Zayn on his work on SmackDown Live, which is hardly surprising given his shocking comments on the latest edition of Bring It To The Table.
The Usos then had an interview backstage in which they spoke about how Breezango has some momentum going for them right now, however, they’ll be the ones who walk out of Backlash with the tag titles. JBL praised the duo before we saw yet another interview, this time with Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner Mojo Rawley.
Mojo, in one of the best promos of his career, spoke about how much the win meant to him in addition to how the trophy is a reminder for him to use his weakness as strength. Following this, Renee and JBL spoke about Shinsuke Nakamura and Dolph Ziggler’s impending showdown, with the final interview of the night coming from the Show-Off himself.
Ziggler talks about his history in the company, stating that he’s not worried about Nakamura heading into the pay per view because he’s confident that he’ll figure him out. At the show, he’ll show the WWE Universe just how good he is.
Young sends us off, but not before reminding everyone that WWE Backlash will take place next Sunday.
