WWE News: Trish Stratus says Diva is a "weird" term
Former WWE Employee Trish Stratus recently appeared on the 'Raw Meet Podcast'. She gave an interview promoting the DVD release of her latest movie Gridlocked. During the interview, she talked about various things including the current Women's division of WWE.
She said that wrestlers from the Women’s division deserved to fight for the Women's Championship and not for the Diva's championship. According to her the term 'Divas' was a little weird for women wrestlers, as it’s more focused on the look of the wrestlers rather than their wrestling skills:
"They [WWE female talent] deserve to be fighting for the Women's Championship, The Divas thing was kind of a weird phase, where it was focus on the women [appearance] and it sucks because there were some very talented women at the time. I'm not ever going to denounce a Divas Champion, because, to me, it's still a wrestling champion."

It's notable here that Trish joined the company back in march 2000 and had many memorable moments during her 6 year long wrestling career. She is also a part of WWE Hall of Fame class of 2013. The former Women's champion is mostly known for her classic feud against Lita.
Her movie was released in theaters back in September 2015 and the DVDs of the film have been released just 5 days ago on 14th of June.
