WWE/UFC News: Paige VanZant reveals meeting with Stephanie McMahon regarding crossover
What's the story?
After Ronda Rousey shocked the world by swapping UFC for WWE earlier in the year, rumours have been rife about several stars switching from the Octagon to the squared circle.
One such name that always rises to the top of the list is Paige VanZant - who confirmed she met with Stephanie McMahon last week.
In case you didn't know...
The 24-year-old VanZant has never been one to shy away from the limelight outside of the Octagon, making it to the finals of Dancing With The Stars, winning the celebrity edition of Chopped, and also appearing as a guest in Hell's Kitchen - and she's never been coy about crossing over to WWE either.
In fact, VanZant even spoke of her WWE aspirations back in 2016, and then again earlier this year in a video you can watch below.
I’m a fighter first and foremost but, if the opportunity ever came knocking, I’m not one to turn opportunities down. I think it’s an amazing organisation, and I’d definitely love to work with them [WWE].
The heart of the matter
Speaking with MMA Weekly recently, UFC star Paige VanZant revealed that she met with Stephanie McMahon last week while the pair were at Web Summit in Portugal.
There’s probably huge potential for a crossover down the line and of course I’m a big fan of what they do, so it would be great to be a part of. I got the opportunity to talk to Stephanie for a little bit on Tuesday which was great.
VanZant also spoke of the potential of a move into WWE, stating that switching to professional wrestling "would suit her".
I’m not ready to leave the UFC just yet. I love being a professional fighter and I still have a long career ahead of me. I also think the WWE is an amazing organization and it’s a very athletic entertainment industry which would suit me.
What's next?
Paige VanZant hasn't fought in UFC since January, after losing via unanimous decision to Jessica-Rose Clark. The 24-year-old has been sidelined ever since with a broken arm but is currently scheduled to face Rachael Ostovich on January 19th, 2019.
