Video: Alberto Del Rio attacked by a fan in Puerto Rico

The latest victim of a fan’s physical onslaught

The recent trend of WWE stars getting attacked by fans continued as Alberto Del Rio was the latest victim to have been on the receiving end of a fan’ onslaught.

The incident happened in Bayamón, Puerto Rico – where Del Rio was working a match against Ray Gonzalez for the World Wrestling Council (WWC) promotion. Del Rio rolled out of the ring during the match and what followed was an all-out attack by a fan who was stationed at ringside.

The fan unloaded a string of strikes on the WWE United States Champion and was thankfully stopped by the promotion’s personnel present at ringside. The unruly fan was unsurprisingly thrown out of the arena and the bout continued as usual.

Del Rio kept his word with WWC and fulfilled his commitment by wrestling for the promotion in spite of his return to the WWE.

His match with Gonzalez ended in disqualification after Del Rio’ younger brother El Hijo de Dos Caras – who formerly wrestled under the moniker Memo Montenegro in WWE’s Developmental – interfered and broke up a figure four leg lock.

Other than that, the fan attack that transpired at the WWC’s Lockout event at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum goes to show the increasing audacity of the fans. Below is the video of the fan pummeling Del Rio at the WWC event:
