Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger: What does this union mean for Swagger?

Not many of us had heard about Zeb Colter until recently. Better known as Dutch Mantel, he is none other than Uncle Zebekiah or Uncle Zeb of WWF. Colter never had a lot of success in WWF or WCW. Though he was a fan favourite in his home town Puerto Rico and appeared in several promotions in Southern United States. One main reason for him not being very popular was lack of proper exposure in this part of pro-wrestling. He has also been a commentator, creative writer and manager and has played a key role in creating the knockouts division of TNA. He finally made his return to RAW this week alongside Jack Swagger.

Speaking of Swagger, he returned to SmackDown recently with a lot of aggression and momentum. Though the return fell flat, Swagger gained a lot of momentum after that. He is now in a position where people are predicting him to win the No.1 contender Elimination Chamber match though I tend to differ. Now, the fact of the matter is that Swagger has suddenly returned with a never before dominance and seems to be ready to fight among the top wrestlers.

The problem with Swagger however, is not his in ring skills, I don’t think anyone will ever complain about Swagger’s ability to wrestle. He has both the technique and power to be one of the best wrestlers in WWE. It is his mic skills that seem to be his biggest foe and I guess lisp is a word he doesn’t like in the dictionary. But with Colter on his side, Swagger does not have to worry about his speaking on the mic hereafter.

One has to agree that Swagger never had the ability to impress people with his persona. Every time you saw him in the ring, he gave us nothing out of the ordinary. With Zeb Colter alongside, there is something that makes Swagger interesting. It gives Swagger that particular ingredient that he has been missing for so long. One of the important things that Colter has given Swagger is a meaning to his character. For long, WWE wasn’t sure of the character Swagger was going to represent but after Colter and Swagger’s speech on this week’s RAW, it is quite clear WWE want them to represent the Americans and their know-it-all attitude.

Colter, with wonderful mic skills, is without doubt one of the best today and it is no wonder that WWE has roped him in to be a mouthpiece for Swagger. With such an excellent legend around him, Swagger can concentrate more in improving his in-ring skills and character while Colter does all the mic work for him.

Swagger’s future in WWE did look quite uncertain until recently and with Colter on his side, now it is quite clear that WWE has rediscovered the lost faith that it once had on Swagger.
