Ziggler-Cena feud: Why Ziggler needs to gain the upper hand

For more than eight years, we have seen John Cena as the poster boy of WWE and the fact that he brings in a lot of revenue for WWE justifies his long reign. For more than 2 years now, we heard a lot of anti-Cena remarks, mainly because of his unchanged gimmick. The Super Cena gimmick that kids and ladies so gladly adore has become an extremely boring part of WWE. It is high time WWE gave this some consideration and stopped looking at the momentary benefits that it is gaining. Yes, Cena has been a hard worker all these years and deserves another title run, but that doesn’t mean he gets to bury young talent like Ziggler.

Ziggler, as the greatest show off in WWE, has worked real hard for the past six years to finally showcase his talent to the world. His ability to sell moves is, without doubt, one of the best and it is very unfortunate that WWE has used it for the wrong purposes. Ziggler, over the years, has been nothing but a wrestler who helped put over other wrestlers. Several wrestlers made it over Ziggler thanks to his ability to make their finishers look like the real deal.

With such a talent at hand, it was indeed sad to see Ziggler lose the way he did in this week’s steel cage match against Cena in RAW. If you are by any means trying to give a wrestler a push, try showing that he has some credibility of his own. Okay, Cena needed to win the match to make a statement (please don’t ask me why), but still making Cena look invincible is not what most of us expected. After taking all that beating, Cena comes out with one move to win? Ridiculous to say the least.

Anyway, getting back to the topic, I personally feel it is time Cena lost a few matches to the likes of Ziggler. This is important; for Ziggler to thrive now as a superstar, it is important that he has a few credible victories of his own. This way, he can establish himself as a worthy opponent to top babyfaces in the company.

The best opportunity that Ziggler had to make a point to the fans was at the steel cage match this week in RAW, which WWE made a complete mess of. Ziggler is, without doubt, one of the greatest talents WWE has produced, and it is important they end the Ziggler-Cena feud with Ziggler gaining the upper hand in at least one or two matches. This, however, looks nearly impossible as the Royal Rumble is a just a week away and if the rumors are right, Cena might go on to win the Rumble to feud against Rock and Punk. What about Ziggler? Well, let’s hope his next feud against a top star turns out to be a better contested one.
