Austin Reaves: A Brief Biography

Born on May 29, 1998, in Newark, Arkansas, USA, Austin Reaves is an German-American professional basketball player who currently plays as a Shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball at Wichita State before transferring to the University of Oklahoma in 2019. During his time at Oklahoma, Reaves emerged as one of the best players in the Big 12 Conference and was named First-Team All-Big 12 in the 2020-2021 season.

He went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft and signed a two way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. He has split time between the Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

Reaves at 6'5" with good size for his position, is well known for his Versatility, Scoring ability, strong ball handling and the ball rotation skills.

Early Life

Austin Reaves went to the Cedar Ridge High School in Cedar Ridge, Arkansas where he started playing basketball and developed an interest in it at a very young age. During his high school career, he became one of the top basketball players in the state and was named to the All-State team in each of his final three seasons.

He continued playing basketball in college firstly, for Wichita state and then to the University of Oklahoma. He played for Oklahoma from 2018-21. During his time at Oklahoma, Reaves was one of the top players on the team and earned various awards and honors, including All-Big 12 honors in his junior and senior seasons. He also helped lead the Sooners to the NCAA Tournament in both the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons.

After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft, Reaves played his NBA debut for the Los Angeles Lakers on october 22 and scored 8 points off the bench against the Phoenix Suns. His career-high 35 points, six rebounds, and six assists gameplay against the Orlando Magic was seen on March 19, 2023.

Reaves first triple double came on April 10, 2023 against the Denver Nuggets where he scored 31 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists in 42 minutes.

Austin Reaves was born to Nicole Wilkett and Brian Reaves in Newark, Arkansas, USA. His parents used to play basketball for Arkansas State. Austin adores his brother Spencer Reaves for generating an interest for basketball. Spencer Reaves, also played college basketball for North Greenville and Central Missouri before pursuing a career as a professional basketball player.

Shoes

The LA Lakers guard has signed an endorsement deal with Rigorer, a Chinese sports apparel company, to produce his own signature shoe. Reaves had been wearing Rigorer shoes throughout the 2022-2023 season. The first model of the shoe, named "AR1," is expected to be released in May 2023.
