Early life

Ayton went to San Diego's Balboa City School before transferring to Hillcrest Prep Academy (Phoenix, Arizona). He participated in the 2016 Nike Hoop Summit as a member of the World Select team. In 2017, Ayton enrolled at the University of Arizona. For the Wildcats, he scored 20.1 points and grabbed 11.6 rebounds per game. During the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball corruption scandal, he was at the center of controversy. At the conclusion of the season, he received the Karl Malone Award and was recognized as the Pac-12 conference's Freshman and Player of the Year.

NBA Journey

The Phoenix Suns selected Ayton with the first pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Ayton played in his first Summer League game against the Dallas Mavericks. During the 2018 Summer League in Las Vegas, he averaged a double-double of 14.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 1 block per game. The rookie season went very well for Ayton . On December 29, He set a new career-high with 33 points and 14 rebounds in a 122-118 loss against the Denver Nuggets. Since struggling greatly in the offense in the past season, In the 2020-21 season, he becomes the Suns leading scorer and rebounder. And in a game against the Houston Rockets on January 20 Ayton scored 26 points, 17 rebounds, a career-high 5 blocks, and a 109-103 victory. In May he played his first NBA playoff Debut scoring 21 points in the first match and in the second match he hit a slum dunk alongside a buzzer beater leading his team to 2-0 in the series, they defeated Los Angeles Clippers lead the Suns to their first NBA Finals since 1993 but lost against the Bucks in the finals.

The 2021-22 season initially went well for the Suns but got eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in the western conference semifinals.

Ayton's multi-year contract with the Suns was signed on July 18, 2022. On November 25, Ayton beat the Detroit Pistons 108-102 with 28 points on 11 of 13 field goal attempts and 12 rebounds.
