John Wall: A Brief Biography

Born on September 6, 1990, in Raleigh, North Carolina John Hildred Wall Jr. is an American professional basketball player for the LA Clippers in the NBA. He played one year of college basketball for the University of Kentucky and then was selected by the Washington Wizard as the first overall choice in the 2010 NBA Draft. During his NBA career, He played for the Wizards for nine seasons, from 2010 to 2019, and was a Six time NBA All-star from the 2014-18 season and also led the league in assists per game in the 2016-17 season.

Wall is known for his speed and quickness on the court and his ability to make plays for his teammates.

Wall scored his first triple-doubles, posting 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists, becoming the third youngest player to score a triple-double. He finished second, next to unanimous selection Blake Griffin, in the Rookie of the Year voting. Wall averaged 16.3 points, 8.0 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game in the 2011-12 season and 18.5 points, 7.6 assists, and 4.0 rebounds a game in the 2012-13 season.

In 2013, Wall signed a five-year contract extension worth approximately $80 million. He was named in the 2014 NBA All-Star Team, making this his first All-Star team selection. He helped the Wizards reach the second round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs, where they lost to the Indiana Pacers in 6 games. In the 2014-15 season, Wall helped the Wizards reach the semi-finals of the 2015 NBA Playoffs where they got eliminated by the Hawks in 6 games.

In the 2016-17 season, Wall scored a career-high 52 points against the Orlando Magic in a 124-116 loss. In 2017, he set a new career high with 20 assists to go with 14 points against the Chicago Bulls in a 112–107 victory. In Game 6 of the first round series of the 2017 NBA Playoffs, Wall scored a playoff-career-high 42 points against the Atlanta Hawks to win the game 115–99, and the series 4-2.

In the second round, he hit a game-winning three-pointer with 3.5 seconds left in game 6 against the Boston Celtics to avoid getting eliminated. They would go on to lose the series in the deciding game 7. Wall signed a four-year, $170 million contract extension with the Wizards in 2017. In 2018, he became the youngest player in franchise history to cross 10,000 points for his career.
