Miles Bridges: A Brief Biography

Miles Emmanuel Bridges Sr. (born March 21, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Charlotte Hornets. He is from Michigan and he played for the Spartans as well in the NCAA circuit. He was initially picked by the Los Angeles Clippers and traded to the Charlotte Hornets on draft night. He is currently a free agent.

Early Life

Miles Bridges was born in Flint Michigan to Cynthia and Raymond Bridges. His father is a basketball player as well and he was a two time state champion with Flint Northern High School. His sister played a major role in his life and upbringing. In 2013 just before his junior year, Bridges transferred to Huntington Prep School in Huntington, West Virginia. In his junior year he played in national level high school basketball competition and his team lost to the number one team in the country in the semis he averaged 15.7 points per game, 10.6 rebounds per game, 3.5 assist per game, 2.8 blocks, and 2.3 steals per game.

He was highly recruited out of high school, he had a lot of offers but he chose to go with Michigan State. He finished his first season averaging 16.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game in 32 minutes per game. He decided to come back to Michigan but an upset in the NCAA tournament saw the Spartans getting knocked out in the second round and Bridges announced that he would declare for the 2018 draft.

NBA Journey

Miles was drafted by the Clippers initially and was traded to the Hornets on draft night. He signed a 4 year $16.3 million deal with the Hornets. Bridges won the Rising Stars Challenge MVP, and he also participated in the 2019 Slam Dunk Contest. In a shocking incident in a loss towards the Hawks he was ejected and threw his mouthpiece at a 16-year-old Hawks fan. The next day, he was fined $50,000 by the NBA for the incident.
