Ricky Rubio: A Brief Biography
Ricard Rubio i Vives is a Spanish professional basketball player who plays as a point guard for the Utah Jazz of the NBA. At age 14, Rubio became the youngest player ever to play in the Spanish ACB League. He is the fifth-youngest player to make their debut in the EuroLeague. He was drafted with the fifth pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He had a successful rookie season at Minnesota finishing 2nd in the Rookie of the Year voting behind Kyrie Irving while averaging 10.6 points, 8.2 assists and 2.2 steals in 41 games.
Rubio holds the Franchise record for most assists in a game for the Timberwolves with 19 assists which came in a 119-104 win over the Washington Wizards.
On March 30, 2017, Rubio had a career-high 33 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in a 119–104 win over the Lakers. On June 30, 2017, Rubio was traded to the Utah Jazz.
Rubio was also a part of the Spanish Men's Basketball Team which won the Silver Medal at the 2008 Olympic games. He also won gold medals with the Spanish team in the 2009 and 2011 Eurobasket championship,bronze in 2013 and 2017 and bronze in the 2016 Olympic Games.
