Rohit Sharma, the Indian opener is an epitome of elegance and silken strokeplay. The star Indian batsman will go down in history as one of the greatest cricketers to have represented India. Rohit Sharma holds several records in international cricket that he has created during the course of his illustrious career with several milestones waiting ahead for him.

Born on April 30, 1987, the current Indian all-format skipper Rohit Sharma made his international debut in June 2007, and since then, he has gone on to represent the country in 45 Tests, 233 ODIs and 142 T20Is, scoring more than 15000 international runs and 41 hundreds, including an unprecedented 3 double-tons in the 50-over format.

On that note, here's a look at the multiple records held by Rohit Sharma in all three formats of the game.

In November 2013 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Rohit Sharma made his Test debut against the West Indies. He went on to become the 14th Indian to hammer a hundred (177) in his very first Test innings.

Rohit also holds the record of registering the most number of runs on Test debut (by an Indian). He is second only to Shikhar Dhawan, who hammered 187 against Australia in Mohali earlier that year.

In 2019, Rohit Sharma scripted history as he became the first Indian to score 100-plus runs in each innings of the Test - 176 & 127 - in his debut game as opener. He achieved the feat against the visiting South African team in Pune.

In the next Test, Rohit Sharma struck his maiden Test double-ton (212) to become the third Indian cricketer to score back-to-back centuries in consecutive Tests.

Rohit Sharma's home Test average of 73.33 is the best by an Indian batter who has played at least 30 innings.

Highest individual score of 264 (173), which he achieved against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in November 2014.

Most runs at a particular batting position: 264 at No. 2.

No cricketer has scored more 200s than Rohit Sharma's three in ODI cricket.

During his record-breaking knock of 264, Rohit smashed 33 fours, which remains a world record for most fours hit by a batter in an innings of 50-over cricket.

Rohit's maiden ODI double-ton - 209 vs Australia in 2013 - saw him hammer 16 sixes, which was the world record for most sixes struck in an innings during that time. The record was eventually overhauled by Eoin Morgan, when he smashed 17 sixes against Afghanistan in a 2019 World Cup fixture.

Rohit Sharma is the fastest Indian opener, and the second-fastest overall after Hashim Amal to cross 5000 ODI runs. He claimed the feat in 102 innings, while Amla managed it in 100.

Only ODI batter to hammer eight 150-plus scores in the format.

In the 2019 World Cup, Rohit Sharma smashed as many as five hundreds and in the process, he broke Kumar Sangakkara's record of most centuries in a single ODI World Cup. The Sri Lankan legend struck four majestic tons in the 2015 World Cup, which was held in Australia and New Zealand.

No other batter has scored more hundreds than Rohit in T20Is.

In 2015, Rohit Sharma became the second Indian after Suresh Raina to smash a hundred in each of the three formats, when he scored a majestic ton in a T20I against South Africa in Dharamsala.

Rohit holds the record for hitting the most number of sixes in T20Is. As of 6th October 2022, the 'Hitman' has struck 178 sixes in 134 innings.

Rohit also holds the unwanted record of registering most number of single-digit scores in Men's T20Is. In 134 innings, the current Indian skipper has had to suffer the ignominy of getting out inside 10 runs 43 times.

Rohit Sharma is the only Indian cricketer till date to score a T20I hundred as captain. He claimed the feat after he hammered a brutal 61- ball 118 against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.
