World Cup 2019: "Apologised to Steve Smith on behalf of crowd" - Virat Kohli at the post match press conference
India captain, Virat Kohli, that his side "couldn't have asked for a better start" to their World Cup campaign praising all departments in the Indian team.
Kohli felt that he had to defend Australia's Steve Smith, who was being booed by India's fans.
"Because there's so many Indian fans here I just didn't want them to set a bad example ... he didn't do anything to be booed in my opinion," said Kohli.
The India captain was also surprised when the stumps didn't fall even when the ball had hit the bails, which would have resulted in David Warner being bowled out earlier.
