NYT Connections Helper: Today's Hints, Answers and Clues

Connections Helper

Our Connections Helper is designed to help you solve one of the most loved games on NYT - Connections.

While Wordle may be the headline-grabbing sensation of The New York Times online game collection, Connections, which launched in June 2023, is the unexpected favorite. Unlike Wordle, which challenges players to guess a single mystery word, Connections requires players to think creatively and identify different combinations, offering a fresh and intriguing twist on puzzle-solving.

Naturally, the game is tricky and gives you only 4 mistakes to get all the right categories. This is where our Connections Helper comes into play.

What is the NYT Connections Game?

While Wordle often steals the spotlight, Connections has quickly become a beloved favorite despite being just over a year old. The game's name aptly captures its essence. In Connections, players are presented with a grid of 16 words and must identify groups of four related words. You need to do this four times until all 16 words are grouped correctly. The challenge lies in the selection of words by an NYT associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, who cleverly picks words that can belong to multiple categories. You can play Connections on the games section of the NYT website.

The obvious choices, such as grouping animals or human muscles, are almost always misleading, adding an extra layer of difficulty and intrigue to the game. There are four different difficulty levels in each game and each group fits in one. Generally, yellow is the easiest category to guess, followed by green and blue. Purple, the last one, is the hardest and has been labeled “tricky”. While the first three categories are more related to the various definitions of the words, the purple category is more open to interpretation. Some of the trickiest purple categories we have come across are "___ BOYS" or "Animal Sounds".

To win, you must select four words you believe are part of a group and then click submit, but unless the selected words are part of the same group, your answers will not be accepted. If your selection is wrong, then it’s rejected. You get four chances and the game continues until all the groups are found or if you run out of turns. Once you're out of turns, the answers are revealed.
