"If there's an opportunity for that stuff, I'll be open" - AnEsonGib open to fighting KSI, names the best YouTube boxer, and more (Exclusive)

Ali Loui Al-Fakhri better known online as AnEsonGib (or simply “Gib”) is among the most popular names within the UK YouTube scene and has over 2.29 million subscribers to his name on the platform. Although the creator initially gained traction on YouTube for his FIFA Ultimate Team pack opening videos, his journey didn't stop there. Gib has since cemented himself as a standout figure in the influencer boxing scene, dazzling fans with his skill.

Gib sat down with Sportskeeda (November 21, 2024) to discuss his upcoming boxing match against fellow YouTuber and boxer Slim "The Hitman" Albaher. We also discussed potential matchups against JJ “KSI,” his thoughts about the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson match, and more.

Gib and Slim Albaher will face each other on 28 November 2024 at the Lusail Sports Arena in Doha, Qatar. It is set to be the main event in the upcoming MF & DAZN: X Series 18.

Interestingly, both contestants boast impressive boxing records. Gib has stepped into the ring seven times, including exhibition matches, and has won six of those encounters, with only one loss. Slim remains undefeated with a 7-0 record. Known for his explosive power, he has delivered five knockouts.

Q. Hey Gib, thanks for joining. How have you been?

AnEsonGib: Yes brother, I’m good, I’m good. Seven days away (from the fight). I’m in Doha, Fight Night, Qatar, Super Cut and I’m very excited.

Q. Your match is coming up. Could you elaborate on how your training is going and how you expect to fare against Slim?

AnEsonGib: Yeah, so we've got an 8-round fight. It's a pro-fight in Doha. I've been training incredibly hard. I'm bringing the first proper fight to Misfits Boxing and we're excited to dust this guy off.

Q. You have fought seven times, this is your eighth one. Do you consider this your toughest fight yet?

AnEsonGib: Slim is definitely my most credible opponent to date, 7-0, two-wing Division Champ, Misfit’s best and we're here to take him out.

Q. Slim has a slight height and reach advantage going into the match. How would you negate it?

AnEsonGib: He's got height and a reach advantage. What am I going to do about it? Fantastic question. I'm gonna get up close and personal and I'm gonna rip it to his ribs. I think that's what I'm gonna do.

Q. In your opinion, who are the top 3 YouTube boxers?

AnEsonGib: Fantastic. So, we have to put Slim as one of the best at Misfits. I’ve taken out the best at Kingpyn (Boxing) and Social Gloves. So, after I defeat Slim, I will be number 1.

Q. What about a possible fight against KSI (Misfits co-owner)?

AnEsonGib: I believe he's in a different weight class. If there's an opportunity for that stuff, I'll be open.

Q. Did you tune in for the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson match? What did you make of it?

AnEsonGib: It was a great exhibition, an amazing production. Yeah, it was an enjoyable watch. (When asked if the match was disrespectful) It was a little bit unfortunate to some point. But, hey, no one got hurt. Everyone got paid.

Q. Can we expect more content from you on YouTube after your fight is done?

AnEsonGib: Inshallah, that’s the plan. That’s the goal. To chin their best fighter, Slim...So, once after this, I’ve decided to take a little bit of a break (because) I’ve been in a camp for a while, and yeah, then, back on to YouTube.

Q. Your collaborations with the Sidemen are always fun. When can we expect to have you back there?

AnEsonGib: If they give the invite, I'll be happy to turn up. We always make good videos. So yeah, it's exciting. (When asked if he would play in the Sidemen Charity Match) Inshallah. We have done some other charity matches in the past and if they invite me, I'll be happy to join.

Q. Alright Gib, just before I let you go, predictions for the fight and after Slim, who do you have in mind?

AnEsonGib: We are here to knock out the 7-0 Misfits champion. Whatever rounds present themselves, once he shows me a weakness, that's when I'm gonna capitalize. (Answering the second question) I'm thinking of eating chicken shawarma, lamb shawarma, and some French fries! (Laughs)
