The event commenced with Men’s tournament in July 1881. Canadian open, called as National Bank Open presented by Rogers for sponsorship reasons is an annual hardcourt tennis tournament. This tournament is considered the second oldest in tennis after the most prestigious Wimbledon Championship. The men’s category comes under the Maters 1000 on the ATP and WTA 1000 tournament on the WTA. On February 2, Tennis Canada came up with a 10-year agreement that the National Bank will be the sponsor.
Venues and Dates
The tournament’s venue follows a system since 2021 that the men's tournament will be held in Montreal and the women’s tournament will be held in Toronto for every even-numbered year and vice-versa for odd-numbered years. For 2022, the National Bank Open will be played in Montreal for Atp meanwhile WTA in Toronto.
The ATP tournament is scheduled to start on August 5 and WTA to commence on August 6. Both the event will conclude on August 14.
