About Valspar Championship 2024

The Valspar Championship is an annual professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour that takes place on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbour, Florida, north of St. Petersburg. The yearly golf competition is scheduled to occur at the same Copperhead Course on Mar 21–24, 2024.

Valspar Championship 2024 History

The tournament, formerly the Tampa Bay Classic, was first held as a fall and late summer alternative event in 2000. Held yearly in central Florida since 1960 and at Innisbrook since 1990, it replaced the JCPenney Classic. As the final full-field event before the Tour Championship, the Tampa Bay event was on the schedule in late October (and early November in 2003) from 2003 to 2006. The title sponsor was the Chrysler Corporation.

Since 2007, the Players Championship has been held in mid-May, six weeks after the Tampa Bay event. The competition only had a title sponsor for a while, raising questions about what would happen after 2007. Subsequently, on January 24, 2007, the PGA Tour and the tournament organisers declared a six-year sponsorship deal with PODS, a Clearwater, Florida company.

The Valspar Championship was renamed in September 2013 after Valspar Corporation inked a four-year contract as the event's headline sponsor. Valspar's title sponsorship of the Valspar Championship will continue through 2020 according to a three-year extension announced on March 9, 2016, by the PGA Tour, Valspar Corporation, and Copperhead Charities, the tournament's host organisation. This extension happened in the middle of the 2013–2017 initial contract period.

In 2004, Vijay Singh won the tournament by five shots, setting a new record with 266 (−18).

Valspar Championship 2024 Course

The Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbour, Florida, north of St. Petersburg, is ranked as the seventh most challenging course on the PGA TOUR; so players come prepared for a tremendous test.

The most well-known of Innisbrook's four courses is Copperhead. The best golfers in the world, including those who have won and lost tournaments, love it since it is the home of the PGA TOUR's yearly Valspar Championship. This course perfectly combines beauty and challenge with its rolling landscape and fairways surrounded by pine trees. While attempting to stay clear of the lake and pond water risks, observe fauna. At more than 7,200 yards, it's a difficult test for even the longest hitters. At Innisbrook, this course is a must-play.
