Matthew "Matt" Fitzpatrick is an American professional golfer born on September 1, 1994. Fitzpatrick won his first amateur title at the 2012 Boys Amateur Championship when he was 18. The following year, he moved up in the World Amateur Golf Rankings after winning the U.S. Amateur and earning the Mark H. McCormack Medal. Fitzpatrick briefly played college golf for Northwestern University in late 2013 before turning professional in 2014. His first professional victory came at the 2015 British Masters on the European Tour (now DP World Tour).

Primarily competing on the European Tour, Fitzpatrick has won eight of his ten professional titles on the Tour. His wins include victories at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, in 2016 and 2020, as well as his first major championship at the 2022 U.S. Open. He reached a career-high world ranking of No. 6 in April 2023 and, as of February 2025, Fitzpatrick holds the No. 57 rank in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).
