
American professional golfer Patrick Cantlay was born on March 17, 1992. During his amateur career, Cantlay held the top spot for 55 weeks in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. He was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022. As of April 2025, he has nine professional wins, including the 2021 FedEx Cup.
Cantlay decided to forgo his final two years of college in June 2012 to pursue a professional career. He competed for the United States in the 2021 Ryder Cup and played in four matches, winning three and tying one. Cantlay won the 2017 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in a playoff against Alex Cejka and Kim Meen-whee, his first PGA Tour win. He went on to win the 2019 Memorial Tournament, finishing two strokes ahead of Adam Scott. In October 2020, he won the Zozo Championship with a score of 265 under 23, defeating Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas by a single stroke. He won his second Memorial title and fourth overall event on the PGA Tour in 2021, with a score of 275, under 13, defeating Collin Morikawa in a playoff.
In August 2021, Cantlay won the BMW Championship over Bryson DeChambeau in a playoff. He followed that up by winning the Tour Championship three months later, finishing one shot ahead of Jon Rahm to win the 2021 FedEx Cup. The next season, in April, Cantlay teamed up with Xander Schauffele to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a score of 259 under 29, finishing two strokes ahead of Sam Burns and Billy Horschel. His eighth PGA win was in August of the same season, at the BMW Championship, over Scott Stallings.
