Travelers Championship Holes List

Last Modified Jun 20, 2024 08:23 GMT

Thanks to the Travellers Championship, this week's PGA Tour event is the third since golf resumed. This week's competition will be held at TPC River Highlands, one of Connecticut's immaculate golf courses.

Situated atop a bluff with a view of the Connecticut River is TPC River Highlands, located near Cromwell, Connecticut. TPC River Highlands, formerly the Middletown Golf Club and Edgewood Country Club, is a yearly PGA Tour stop that serves as the Travellers Championship.

Only the Waste Management Phoenix Open draws more spectators to a PGA Tour tournament yearly than this one. 2011 saw 70,000 spectators on Sunday and 240,000 spectators over the week for the tournament. In 2002, the competition attracted approximately 400,000 spectators over the course of a week, setting a record. The largest crowd to see the competition since Travellers began organising it was around 290,000 in 2017.

Where is the Travelers Championship held?

Since 1991, TPC River Highlands has been honoured to host the Travellers Championship. The PGA TOUR's Travellers Championship has the second-highest attendance each year.

The Travellers Companies has sponsored the 2024 Travellers Championship since 2007. It takes place on June 20–23. Among the most well-known and, in certain circumstances, most distinguished golfers are on the tournament's winners list: Jordan Spieth, Stewart Cink, Nick Price, Lee Trevino, Sam Snead, and Arnold Palmer. Billy Casper has won four times in the Travellers Championship, making six men the title winners in 2013.

Hole Details on TPC River Highlands

Competitors will face off on eighteen courses with rolling fairways, pond and lake hazards, with trees of maple, oak, and sycamore around them. Golfers will appreciate how the course balances nature and layout, even with a large field expected for this event.

The course layout has a good mix of long and short holes. A four-acre lake is the focal point of the famous trademark holes (15–17), which challenge players of all skill levels. Stuart Cink states there are "four of the most exciting finishing holes in a group anywhere in the world" when considering the last hole of the stretch.

Hole #1

Par 4, 434 yards:

Finding the fairway on the first hole at TPC River Highlands is imperative. If a player hits a solid tee shot, their second shot will be uphill to a green that slopes from back to front. With their birdie putts, players can be aggressive due to the green's curves.

Hole #2

Par 4, 341 yards:

There are several alternatives available to players on this brief par 4. Using a driver to challenge the hole offers a risk vs. reward chance. A player can make a birdie if they hit a solid tee shot. But if a player makes a mistake, they'll fight for bogey.

Hole #3

Par 4, 431 yards:

This hole is best approached with a drive down the right side of the fairway. Players should avoid the fairway bunkers since they will make it difficult to get to the green in two shots. It's a mid-iron approach for players to one of the course's larger greens.

Hole #4

Par 4, 481 Yards:

Hole #4 at TPC River Highlands is the most extended par 4 in the Travellers Championship and can be tricky. It's a 481-yard drive that takes two really good shots to get to the green safely. On this hole, par is a very excellent score.

Hole #5

Par 3, 233 yards:

Upon reaching No. 5, players are put to the test once more. You'll need a long iron, hybrid, or fairway wood to find the green on this lengthy par three. This huge green frequently has long putts; how well a player navigates them will decide the type of score they receive.

Hole #6,

Par 5, 574 Yards:

This dogleg right par 5 presents excellent scoring opportunities for players. The longest hitters can only reach this green in two shots, but making a birdie with a well-placed wedge shot from inside 100 yards is still possible.

Hole #7

Par 4, 443 yards:

A solid tee shot is necessary to avoid the big fairway bunkers along the right side of this easy par 4. The approach to the green is mid-iron with a well-placed tee shot.

Hole #8

Par 3, 202 yards:

Accurately assessing the wind is crucial on this gorgeous par 3. The player's ability to determine the direction and strength of the wind is hampered by the trees that encircle the left side of the hole. To play this hole properly, they must have faith in their clubs.

Hole #9

Par 4, 406 Yards:

The key to this tight dogleg right par 4 is placement. Players can use a short iron to target the pin from the fairway. As golfers get ready to shift to the back nine, spectators may anticipate seeing a lot of birdies here.

Hole #10

Par 4, 462 Yards:

The tee shot for hole number 10, which is a tight par four, must be long and straight to avoid the enormous oak tree on the left side of the fairway. From there, a long, narrow green descends from front to back, reached by a downhill approach shot.

Hole #11

Par 3 | 158 Yards

On this downhill par three, use one less club. A deep bunker protects the front right portion of the green. When attempting a putt for a birdie on this hole, professionals will aim to be inside 15 feet.

Hole #12

Par 4, 411 Yards

This undulating par 4 requires a precise tee shot due to the dense grass on the right and the Connecticut River on the left. A player who tees off too long will lie downhill. With so many sharp breaks, the high green may be quite dangerous.

Hole #13

Par 5, 523 yards

Most pros competing in the Travellers Championship will be able to reach this par 5 in two shots because it is only 523 yards. Water to the right and out-of-bounds to the left of the tee, as well as water in front of the green and out-of-bounds lurking to the left, necessitate accuracy. If players choose not to go for the green in two, they must lay on the fairway's right side.

Hole #14

Par 4, 421 Yards

This dogleg left par 4 requires a blind tee shot from the players. Players have a second shot downhill after driving to the right, which allows them to aim by looking directly down at the flagstick.

Hole #15

Par 4, 296 yards:

This 296-yard, par-4 hole is among the most thrilling on the PGA TOUR and requires golfers to make wise choices. Sand is on the right, while water is on the left. When players walk off this green, their scorecard may show anything from a 2 to a 6.

Hole #16

Par 3, 171 yards:

One must hit the midiron effectively to stop the ball on the tiny green and avoid the forced carry across the water on this picturesque par-3. The green is rather sloping, making pin placements challenging.

Hole#17

Par-4, 420 yards:

Standing on the tee box at number seventeen is a different kind of intimidation. The enormous lake that encircles the entire right side and the challenging fairway bunkers on the left must be accommodated by the player's shot. A solid drive is the first step to finishing this hole with a par. The entire approach shot will cross the water, so choosing the right club is crucial in any wind. Because they realise this hole has the potential to be the tournament's breaking point, the crowds are enormous here.

18th Hole

Par 4, 444 yards:

A flawless ending hole that, with good play, enables golfers to make birdies. A strong drive at 444 yards leaves a mid-to-short iron approach to a spectator-filled green.
