Simone Biles bids goodbye to husband Jonathan Owens ahead of 2024 Paris Olympics

Despite being the most decorated gymnast in history, Simone Biles will be eager to add to her trophy cabinet when she takes part in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Having won four gold and one bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Biles was expected to set the stage alight at the 2020 Tokyo Games. However, she had to withdraw from the majority of her events after struggling with the “twisties” — a type of mental block that gymnasts face.

Having taken a two-year break from the sport, Biles made her comeback ahead of this year's Summer Olympics. With Team USA heading to Paris for the quadrennial event, the 27-year-old took to social media to bid goodbye to her husband Jonathan Owens. However, it will not be a long break as they are set to reunite in the French capital very soon.

"See you in Paris baby," Simone Biles said.

Simone Biles secured her spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Having represented her country in Rio and Tokyo, she is all set to become a three-time Olympian.

She finished on top of the standing in the trails, with a final score of 117.225. Reigning Olympic all-around champion Suni Lee came second (111.67) and Tokyo 2020 team silver medallist Jordan Chiles (111.425) completed the podium.

"I wake up every day and choose to grind in the gym and come out here and perform for myself just to remind myself that I can still do it," she told media after the trials.

With Team USA settling for silver in Rio, Biles is eager to clinch team gold in Paris.

"This is definitely our redemption tour. I feel like we all have more to give, and our Tokyo performances weren't the best. We weren't under the best circumstances either. But, I feel like we have a lot of weight on our shoulders to go out there and prove that we're better athletes, we're more mature, we're smarter, we're more consistent," she added.

Biles will be joined by Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and 16-year-old rising star Hezly Rivera in Team USA's gymnastics squad for this year's Summer Games.
