Matthew Short, the Adelaide Strikers captain, is the Player of the Match for his stellar hundred. Here's what he has to say: (Satisfying as it gets?) I'm just happy to be out there on the park. Nice to be back and to get the win was great. Nice to be back in Adelaide. Frustrated sitting on the sidelines especially as captain when you're doing some work on the side but can't be there on the field. (On the partnership with Chris Lynn) I've always mentioned how good Lynny is to bat with. He has such a calm and collected head. Shorter boundary as well and it was nice to see him get going. Took some pressure off me. Alex Carey back as well - took some pressure off me when the guys come in and play with intent. We tried a few things with the ball in the end. Guys playing their first game for us, we put them under the pump. They'll be better for it. Great result in the end. Is Steve Smith playing the next game? (Laughs when asked of the next two games) We've won one now, going to be a good one against the Sixers here again. Should be a good crowd, hope we put up another good show for them.

26 sixes in this match and the audiences who decided to show up at the stadium have got their money's worth. It's the joint-most sixes in a Big Bash match ever!

252 was always going to be challenging. A tall order. But Heat made a strong start by reaching 50 within the first 4 overs. Liam Haskett, making his Big Bash debut, was handed out a severe treatment by Nathan McSweeney, who picked the right armer for 20 runs in the last over of the power play.

D'Arcy Short, playing in his 100th Big Bash game, did get some lusty blows with the bat earlier in the match but struck first ball with his bowling to remove Jack Wood, a dagger in the Heat's progress that was already plagued with a dwindling run rate. The partnership between Renshaw and Bryant was 49 runs from only 3 overs but that had to really prolong for a good 4-5 more overs to threaten the Strikers.

Johan Botha, Head Coach of the Brisbane Heat and quite a fine T20 player during his active days, reveals that the message in the innings break to his boys was that they have still got those couple of balls to get themselves in. Explains the technically immaculate shots that McSweeney had played at the start of his knock but these were gigantic run rates to maintain.

Darcy Short, who wasn't even initially picked in the Strikers squad at the start of the season, marked his milestone match with 4 scalps to his name, including the Heat skipper Colin Munro for a duck, who'd come as low as number 7 owing to his injury concerns. Spencer Johnson delayed the inevitable in what was a pretty convincing win for the home side!
