Jamie Overton hits the winning runs as the Strikers swap their position in the points table with the Hurricanes, who have now dropped down to the 6th spot.
Earlier in the day, the Hurricanes inflicted an excellent resurgence with Ben McDermott's unbeaten 95 run effort taking them to 166. But it was the magic of Matt Short and Chris Lynn that took over shortly afterwards.
It was a rousing atmosphere at the Adelaide Oval as the home team raced to 100/1 within 10 overs. From there onwards, even though the Hurricanes did well to take this till the last over, it never looked like they could emerge victorious.
Alex Carey's return to the Strikers colours was met with an impactful 36 run knock that got them to the brink of victory as Strikers continue to push for the 4th spot.
For the Hurricanes bowling effort, there was not a lot to write home about, apart from the returns of their 2 spinners - Patrick Dooley and Nikhil Chaudhary - producing combined figures of 1 for 49 from their 8 overs.
Time is running out for the Hurricanes as they would be desperate to make a dash for the playoffs spot!
19.2 Corey Anderson to Jamie Overton, FOUR! The Adelaide Strikers win by 5 wickets. Full-length delivery outside the off-stump, carved away past the backward point fielder and there was no one in the deep, eventually trickles away to the fence to hand the Strikers a hard-fought victory in the end.
19.1 Corey Anderson to Jamie Overton, there was a clear outside edge there but the umpire denies. On a good-length a shade outside off, Overton goes flashing at that and gets an edge, very well caught by the keeper but the umpire didn't hear that.
And somehow, the Hurricanes have managed to push this one into the last over. 2 runs needed and it is Corey Anderson who would be the last person to be bowling in this match.
