Melbourne Stars win by 7 runs
Melbourne Stars 186/7 in 20 overs Marcus Stoinis 74(35) | Wes Agar 3/27
Adelaide Strikers 178/5 in 20 overs Adam Hose 56*(41) | Liam Hatcher 2/27
The target of 188 was never going to be an easy one for the Adelaide Strikers. They needed a brisk start to harbor hopes of chasing this down. Matt Short was dismissed in the very first over of Trent Boult but Henry Hunt and Chris Lynn got them back into the game with some fine strokes.
The duo shared a 43-run stand before Lynn’s dismissal. Hunt fell just a solitary run short of his fifty but managed to lay the platform for a fascinating finish. Adam Hose looked in ominous touch and went onto register a well-compiled half-century.
Just when the match seemed to be going out of grasp for the Strikers, it was Rashid Khan who turned it on with a few lusty blows. Luke Wood bowled an impressive final over and despite giving his all, Rashid was not able to get his side over the line.
Earlier, it was the Melbourne Stars who won the toss and put up 186 in their allotted 20 overs. Riding on a scintillating 74 off a mere 35 deliveries from Marcus Stoinis, the Stars managed to get to a more than competitive score of 186. Wes Agar was the pick of the bowlers for the Strikers, finishing with 3/27.
