We have had 31 matches in the Women's ODI World Cup. We've had a pleasantly surprising high standard of cricket in the Women's ODI game. And finally, we've had the pleasure of witnessing some of the best cricketing performances by the special and inspirational women from these 8 teams that were on show! New Zealand have produced some fantastic pitches right through and the quality of the matches from start to finish has been first class! In the end though, it was Meg Lanning's Australia who prevailed as World Champions for the 7th time in the history of Women's ODIs.

Out goes the confetti as Meg Lanning receives the World Cup - Australia lift it for the seventh time in the women's game and the celebrations begin! They will go long and hard into the night alright - it's been a hard toil and a well-deserved coronation for this dynastic team led by Meg Lanning.

Australia Women captain, Meg Lanning, at the post-match presentation: We have been extremely consistent with our performances right through the five years heading into this World Cup, and I think we have deserved this victory today. We've had some young players come in and push some of the older, experienced players to keep pushing harder. Overall, whether on the field or off the field, we were good with our preparations and our executions. Alyssa Healy was out of the world today with her batting and literally took us to victory with the bat. As for England, we have seen a remarkable batting effort from Nat Sciver, and we did expect a tough fight with them in the final. There has been a lot of hard work put into the making of this team, and players like Alana King, Tahlia McGRath and Annabel Sutherland are products of it. My thanks goes out to all the players, all the back-room staff, all the coaches and the rest of the people involved in making this success real. A special thanks to England too for making this final so special. Thank you!

England Women captain, Heather Knight, at the post-match presentation: I think it was a 50-50 decision with the toss but credit to Australia for the way they batted. We could not find an answer to their batting today, that too on that good batting pitch. Nat Sciver, whether against pace or against spin, was just fantastic. But it was a shame that we could not support her more with the bat. 300 would have been par I feel, but the extra runs we gave away cost us a lot. We showed a lot of character in this tournament after losing three games on the trot. We can be proud of our performances, Sophie Ecclestone with her wickets finished as the highest wicket-taker, and the rest of the unit was just as good. Heading into the T20 World Cup now and the Commonwealth Games, we are confident of our performances for sure.

Alyssa Healy is the Player of the Match for her blistering 170 off 138 deliveries. She has also been adjudged the Player of the Tournament for topping the charts with 509 runs.

Healy: (On what makes her click in the big games) 32, I've seen it all? (Laughs) I don't know! Our team sets out to win events like this and you want to contribute, don't you. You just want to go full for the opportunity. I think I hit one ball in the air and got dropped (laughs). You probably can't ask for anything more after being sent in to bat. I'm very proud of our batting unit - we've done some special things all tournament and to do it one more time was amazing. I did (have to hold back at times). We knew the first ten was going to be a challenging phase with two world class bowlers steaming in and swinging the ball. We just knew we had to hold our nerve and set up the game for our destructive middle-order. I enjoy batting with Rach - I don't know if she says the same thing (laughs) but it's what we set out to do. We ticked that box and set it up for a big total so patience maybe did pay off. I don't think I should receive this award (laughs again) - I only turned up for the last two games, Rach did bulk of the work for the whole tournament. Really pleasing to be able to do it - I guess having that self-belief and knowing you can do it and battling through the tough times was really important.

Australia 356/5 in 50 overs (Alyssa Healy 170 off 138, Anya Shrubsole 3/46 off 10 overs) beat England 285 in 43.4 overs (Nat Sciver 148* off 121, Jess Jonassen 3/57 off 8.4 overs) by 71 runs to win the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2022.

Player of the Match: Alyssa Healy - 170 (138) (26x4)

It was a match that had to have a great batting performance, we got it. It was a match that had to have a great bowling performance, we got that too. It was a match that had to have a great fielding performance, that too was got. And the team that gave us all that, befitting of a performance of a final, was Meg Lanning's Australia! Whether it was Alyssa Healy's hundred, or Alana King's three wickets, the Australians were simply outstanding with both and ball, and the fielding overall was just apt for a final match!

The run chase needed England to get going right from the word go, and get going they did, but the problem was the regular fall of wickets, right from the start. The early loss of Danni Wyatt set the batting side back, and the loss of Tammy Beaumont shortly after was also not what England wanted.

But Natalie Sciver was the player who started batting much more fluently than any other batter. She needed support from the other end and even though those came in patches from Heather Knight, Amy Jones and Sophia Dunkley, the big partnership was missing.

But Nat Sciver did not stop for a bit and kept on punishing balls that were straight, to bring up one four after another. She also hit the only six of the match. In the process, she brought up her 2nd 100 of the World Cup, again against Australia, this time brilliantly, in response to the pressure she was put under. The batting from Charlie Dean right towards the end surprised one and all, as she got the runs necessary to keep the strike rotated and help her senior partner get feel less pressure in doing the bulk of the scoring.

Eventually though, it was just a case of delaying the inevitable as Sciver was left stranded. Ash Gardner's running catch from mid-off brought the curtains down on an enthralling final and an even better World Cup that has captivated the imagination of fans all around the world - there couldn't have been a more apt advertisement for the women's game that just continues to grow from strength to strength!

Rachael Haynes: Nice to be contributing and getting some runs. It was great to start off well and with the nature of this tournament with back-to-back games you can get on a roll. It's really fun (batting with Healy). It allows me to take my time and it was fun watching her go about it. It was a brilliant innings. It was a Crucifer moment for us to finish off 2017 the way it did. It didn't go according to plan but it told us how we have to play our game. To be able to build on that and to have a consistent performance since that has been outstanding.

Ellyse Perry: The way Healy did it today was just amazing to watch. It's been a wonderful tournament and to finish it well from an Australian perspective was great. (On racing against time to play the final) It was pretty close in the end but a huge amount of credit to the medical staff for helping me get there. Annabel (Sutherland) is an absolutely great mate of mine and to see that happen to her (being replaced) was tough. But personally it was great to get out there. The shift in attitude and mindset to take the game on at all times - in doing that we've put ourselves in different situations. What has stood out for me is the way the group has dealt with pressure. We've had different challenges but we've found our way through that and that has been a big change since 2017.

Alana King: I'm just so proud of this team - to do it 9-nil and go all the way is amazing. I was working a lot with my bowling coach and it was about working out what to bowl. Can't believe we'll be holding that trophy in a couple of minutes. It's a big family in the Australian camp, that's for sure. I was welcomed with open arms - I just fit in straightaway and the credit goes to the girls for what they've built over the years. The culture's been amazing and I couldn't ask for anything better. She just played an outstanding innings - the way she went about it, we were watching on the side and enjoying the show. We've relied on big starts all tournament. The way that they (Healy and Haynes) did on the big stage of the final was incredible.
