Right, a stop-start contest affected largely by rain but in the end, we were treated to some fantastic cricket. That's all from this game and the league stages of TNPL. Join us on Friday for Qualifier 1 as Lyca Kovai Kings take on Dindigul Dragons. Until next time then, this is me, Maanas Upadhyay, alongside Mohul Bhowmick and Karthik Raj, signing off. Good night!
Arun Karthik, the wining captain from Nellai Royal Kings comes to have a chat. He thanks the ground staff for getting conditions suitable for play. He praises Ajitesh and his innings, and how he plays with freedom and expresses himself.
The Ba11sy Trichy captain - Ganga Sridhar Raju - is up next. He speaks about how their season has been and feels that they never got any momentum going.
G Ajitesh is awarded the Player of the Match award for his terrific knock! He talks about the usage of his wrists and how important winning momentum is going into the playoffs.
Sandeep Warrier: We had a good game. The seniors did well for us. Arun has been really good for us throughout the competition. We wanted to focus despite the rain breaks. Madurai did not start the competition well but they have come back strongly.
Nellai Royal Kings 135/2 (11.5) beat Ba11sy Trichy 146/6 (19) by 8 wickets (DLS Method)
1st Innings: Jafar Jamal 96(53) | M Poiyamozhi 2-35(4)
2nd Innings: G Ajitesh 56*(29) | K Easwaran 2-28(2.5)
Nellai Royal Kings have gotten in a thumping win before they move into the playoffs. This has been a sensational all-round performance and they have outplayed Trichy in all three departments. Trichy finish the season with zero wins in their seven games while the Royal Kings will retain their third position with ten points now.
After a fantastic bowling display, the Royal Kings came out all guns blazing in the second innings, The attack started right from the get-go, with Arun Karthik swings hard in the first over. L Suryapprakash played a quick-fire 13-ball 22 knock as well before being dismissed.
However, the star of the show was G Ajitesh. He was simply sensational and continued his good run in the tournament. His timing was immaculate and some of his shots were simply a treat to watch. At the other end, Rajagopal got going after playing second fiddle and together the duo got them over the line comfortably.
Poor performance from the Trichy side and it has just been a season to forget for them. Easwaran was impressive with the new ball but apart from that, none of the other bowlers managed to pick wickets and nor managed to put a half on the onslaught. In the end, they succumb to a loss and will want to put this entire season behind them. As for the Nellai side, they will go into the playoffs with heaps of confidence and will look to stake their claim at the trophy!
11.5 K Easwaran to Nidhish Rajagopal, SIX! NELLAI WIN THIS GAME! At a length outside off, shapes away. Rajagopal comes down the track and smacks it over the deep cover fence for a massive hit to seal the deal!
11.4 K Easwaran to Nidhish Rajagopal, Trichy take the review. At a length on leg. Rajagopal tries to punch it to the on side but misses. He gets rapped on the pads. Appeals for lbw are turned down. UltraEdge confirms that there is no bat involved but the ball tracker shows that the ball was pitching outside leg.
11.3 K Easwaran to G Ajitesh, fullish and wide outside off. Ajitesh steers it to short third man and crosses over. Scores level.
11.2 K Easwaran to G Ajitesh, fullish and wide outside off. Ajitesh steers it to point.
