12:37 PM local time, 10:07 PM IST- So the inevitable has happened. Rain has had the final laugh as the match has been abandoned. Both teams share a point each. It was always on the cards given the amount of rain the ground has taken from overnight. Not the greatest of news for the cricket fans but it is what it is. That also brings us to the end of our coverage for this GT20 encounter. Till the very next time, this is me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Rajarshi Das. Goodnight!
12:11 PM local time, 09:41 PM IST- We haven't got any official update so far but it's still raining. The outfield is unlikely to get ready even if the rain stops. The live visuals suggest that some of the groundsmen are around the covers but not much activity happening. The wait continues and hopefully we can come back with some positive news the next time around.
11:23 AM local time, 08:53 PM IST: So nothing new to report as the rain continues to come down pretty heavily. The coverage shows the pitch firmly under covers but the facilities aren't there to cover the outfield which has got an absolute lashing in the last few hours. It has been relentless rain here and unfortunately, things are looking very bleak at the moment. There hasn't been any official announcement yet so we can keep our fingers crossed for a possibility of play but by the looks of things, it's highly unlikely that we will get a game. Mind you, there is another game later in the day. Maybe if the rain stops, we could get a chance to see some cricketing action. We will keep you updated as and when we get any.
10:53 AM local time, 08:23 PM IST- So the update from the middle is not great. The covers are firmly in place due to incessant rain and we will have a delayed start. The conditions look very damp to be honest. It's still raining at the moment so a lot of work needs to go on for the game to start. Not so positive news and even if the rain stops, it will take considerable of time to make this ground game ready.
Hello and Welcome to Sportskeeda's coverage for Match No 20 of the Global T20 Canada slated to be played between the Brampton Wolves and the Bangla Tigers Mississauga. The pitches has remained a big concern in the last few matches with prodigious swing and seam movement while balls keeping low time and now to trouble the batters. As we reach the buisness end of the competition, it's time for the teams to get into the winning momentum which should them in the playoffs. In the commentary box today will be the pair of Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and Rajarshi Das who will take us through everything that transpires during the course of the encounter. Toss update and team sheets coming up in a while.
The Bangla Tigers Mississauga recovered from a morale shattering defeat against the Brampton Wolves and managed to just about scraped through in yesterday's match against the Surrey Jaguars. It was a brilliant performance by the bowlers to restrict the Surrey Jaguars to 108 in their allotted 18 overs. David Wiese, Shakib Al Hasan and Dillon Heyliger also chipped in with useful contributions.
Shakib finally made a vital contribution with the bat and almost took them over the finish line. However he gave his wicket away at a crucial juncture of the game with Pargat Singh finishing it off with a couple of improvised shots. They didn't have a great time in their previous encounter against the Brampton Wolves. They were skittled out for just 79 and David Warner batter superbly to take his sidenober the finish line.
The Bangla Tigers will be hoping to raise their game today before the playoffs. The Montreal Tigers are currently at the top of the points table with four wins from six games while Bangla Tigers have lost one extra game. Coming to the Brampton Wolves, they defeated the Surrey Jaguars in their previous match and will be high on confidence after crushing the same opponents not too long ago.
David Warner at the top of the order holds the key because of his experience. He has the ability to play according to the conditions and on this surface, Warner will try and settle down before going after the bowlers. He was dismissed for a duck in the previous encounter. However George Munsey and Nick Hobson ensured that they chased down the target of 128 with utmost ease.
The likes of Jack Jarvis, Andrew Tye and Thomas Draca have been among the wickets in the last few games and will be hoping to put up another solid performance. The Brampton Wolves bowling attack has bowled brilliantly and will be hoping to continue the great work in the lead up to the playoffs. All in all, this could again turn out to be a low scoring contest given the overhead and the pitch conditions.
