The umpires had enough. The match has been abandoned. The team that finished higher in the league stage go through to the final, so this means, Montreal Tigers book their spot in the summit clash, while Brampton Wolves will await the winner of Bangla Tigers Mississauga and Toronto Nationals.
Fingers crossed for the Eliminator. Rain has stayed away for a while and if the weather remains the same, we would likely get a game. Let's see what happens in the next few hours or so, but for now, it is time to end the coverage here. Until next time, this is Pragadeesh and Rajarshi signing off
12:53 P.M. Local Time, 10:23 P.M IST - We could hardly see any movement on the field. As I type this, the umpires make their way out to the middle to check the outfield. This means the rain has stopped but the outfield that has taken a heavy beating has to be checked. There is plenty of water on the covers, and considering the visuals in the middle, even the reduced game looks unlikely
12:06 P.M. Local Time, 9:36 P.M. IST: The puddles across the outfield have reduced. There doesn't seem to be much rain around at the moment - the skies have turned brighter as compared to the last hour or so. The covers are still firmly placed across the field.
10:56 A.M. Local Time, 8:26 P.M. IST: Dear me! The entirety of the outfield at the CAA center is virtually flooded, even with covers firmly in place over most of it. Proper monsoon-like conditions at Ontario - the rain has not relented one bit since the last night, and the condition of the cricket field is far, far from good. There's a chance we might not have any play today - it'll take plenty of time to mop things up. Hope for the best, though - stay tuned for further updates!
Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's LIVE coverage of the Global T20 Canada qualifier 1 between Brampton Wolves and Montreal Tigers CAA Centre, Brampton, Ontario. The Tigers and the Wolves finished the league stage as the two best teams and have an easy route to the finals comparted to the other two teams. They faced once and the Tigers earned a thumping victory, all thanks to Bajwa's splendid century and Omarzai's brilliant bowling at the top.
Except David Warner, the Wolves don't have enough experience under their belt but still, they progressed this far, so don't rule them out of the contest entirely. Their bowling has been the strength and the bowlers did well in the previous outing against the Tigers but never found an answer against Bajwa
The Tigers have lost just a solitary game and in the matches they had won so far, they were magnificent with the ball and the fired-up attack led by Azmatullah Omarzai would be itching to have a go at the Wolves' top-order. Moreover, Azmat and Sana are heading into this contest with a lot of confidence after they rattled the Toronto batters in the previous outing, so David Warner & co have their task out against them.
Due to overcast conditions and persistent rain in Ontario, the conditions have suited the bowlers so far and it is expected to remain the same again. Who will go through to the final? Let's find that out in the company of Rajarshi, and this is myself (Pragadeesh)
