Super Over|
Cape Town Samp Army 7/1 (1) Harare Hurricanes 8/0 (0.5)
What a thrilling win for Harare Hurricanes in the end as they get the better of the table-toppers, Cape Town Samp Army courtesy a Super Over! Defending 116 in the regular game, the Harare bowlers started superbly as they didn't allow Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Tadiwanashe Marumani to get away in the Powerplay. Eventually, Marumani's struggling knock came to an end in the fourth over when Samit Patel castled him with a yorker. The pressure continued to build on the Samp Army as Nandre Burger bowled an economical sixth over.
Yet, Gurbaz broke the shackles soon by taking Mohammad Nabi to the cleaners in the seventh over. The Afghan batter smacked Samit Patel too but the latter eventually had him caught at extra-cover. Karim Janat came in and also took a liking to Mohammad Nabi by cracking a couple of sixes. However, Nabi just about kept Harare in the game by dismissing Bhanuka Rajapaksa off the final ball of the penultimate over. Going into the final over, Samp Army required only eight runs with S Sreesanth about to bowl for the first time in the tournament! Yet, the Indian veteran gave hope to Harare by striking the timber off the very first ball as Janat had to depart. The equation came down to two off two balls when Sreesanth produced a stunning run-out to get rid of Sean Williams. Eventually, only a leg-bye was taken off the last ball as the match was tied!
For the Super Over, the Afghan duo of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Karim Janat walked out to bat while Nandre Burger was handed the ball. But the former holed out off the second ball. Nandre continued to use his impressive variations as he contained Karim and ended up conceding just seven runs. The odds were stacked up against Peter Hatzoglou who had to bowl to Donavon Ferreira and Mohammad Nabi while defending just eight runs. The Aussie still bowled superbly to bring it down to just two off the last two balls. Just as it seemed like Hatzoglou produced a false shot of Nabi, Sean Williams spilled a tricky catch at deep mid-wicket and the batters ended up taking two runs to complete the game!
0.5 Peter Hatzoglou to Mohammad Nabi, in the air....dropped! Sean Williams drops an absolute sitter! And that's the game! Pitched up and kept straight, Nabi moved across and looked to clear the leg side, but he could merely send the ball miles up into the night sky. The ball descended on Sean Williams as he ran in from deep square, got under it, but the ball ended up bursting through his palms! Harare Hurricanes triumph after 22 overs of T10 cricket!
0.4 Peter Hatzoglou to Donavon Ferreira, full and fired in the slot, but Ferreira can't meet it right. He skews this one down towards the man at long on. Just a single, 2 off 2...
0.4 Peter Hatzoglou to Mohammad Nabi, wide, short, and fired way down the leg side. Parthiv did well to get a hand to it, but the batters sneak a single as the fielder at fine leg took aim, fired a throw at the keeper's, missed
0.3 Peter Hatzoglou to Donavon Ferreira, goes for the big hoick to this quick, full, straight delivery, ends up swatting it towards deep mid wicket off the inside half of the bat, another single
0.2 Peter Hatzoglou to Mohammad Nabi, full and fired in on leg stump, glanced towards deep square leg, just a single
0.1 Peter Hatzoglou to Donavon Ferreira, full and fired in on the pads, Ferreira charged down the wicket early and ended up being rapped on the pads. The batters get a leg bye
Not a surprise that Donavon Ferreira will come out to bat for Harare Hurricanes along with Mohammad Nabi! Meanwhile, it will be Peter Hatzoglou who will bowl
Stunning fielding from Evin Lewis to save a boundary. We will go upstairs to check whether it was a wicket! No, the replays confirm that Karim Janat made the crease. So, Harare Hurricanes will need eight runs to win the Super Over!
