A target of 95 was never going to challenge a strong Switzerland batting line-up. The path to it was tougher for them than it seemed earlier, with the openers back in the hut, but Malyar Stanikzai and Roshanth Karunamoorthy stepped up to the plate, steered the Swiss towards safety, and got the job done. They were beaten by some really good deliveries - the Cyprus bowlers did a fairly good job at times, but there were far too many looseners in between which were dealt with.
Switzerland now have one foot in the first qualifier now. They'd hope for England XI to beat Romania in the following game to seal the deal for them and hand them two chances at the final. England XI have arguably been the strongest outfit of the lot in this group, and so, the Swiss will be fairly confident about their chances.
