The weather has been a little different today. It's a bit windy at times, there's a bit of cloud around and it'll definitely be cooler. Interesting to see how all that plays out tonight. The wicket tonight is pretty much in the centre. The square boundaries are almost the same. 56 meters towards point and 55 towards square (for a right-hander) and 69 meters straight. Fresh pitch it is. The wicket is dry and rolled well, pretty hard surface. Good wicket to bat, lot of runs for the batters. The dew factor might not be that much, not the sort of impact as the last game. It'll help the seamers in the first innings. Might want to bat first. Got to be a little cautious in the powerplay, hold on to your wickets, and you will be able to post a good total, reports Natalie Germanos and Mithali Raj.

Well, that is it. We've reached the end of our coverage of the 2025 Women's Premier League. A league that just keeps growing in terms of stature, numbers and quality of cricket with each passing year. Let's see... we've had the first Super Over, the highest team total - which was almost chased down, almost the first hundred by an individual, two all-rounders tied with each other for most wickets in the season - both from the same team, all in one season. The quality of players have been nothing short of tremendous - speaking of which, we've compiled a playing XI of the best players this season, which you can check by clicking on the link below. We've had immense fun calling all twenty-two cricket matches, none of which would have been possible without your support - time and again - it's you, our beloved readers who keep us going! 12:45 A.M. IST: A clash between two well-oiled, yet slightly imperfect units ends with the Mumbai Indians coming out on top. It's just something that's synonymous with them - time and again we've seen the men's team conjure the unthinkable and claim the prize. Of course, that trait just had to rub off on the women's team, and it has showed. Three editions of the Women's Premier League, two titles. The franchise just finds ways to acquire the best in the business - both in terms of playing personnel and backroom staff. The case was no different this time around, evident from the stats table of the tournament. Natalie Sciver-Brunt finishes at the top of the Orange Cap list by a country-mile with 507 runs to her tally, and that to go with 12 wickets and immense contribution on the field. Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews went toe-to-toe for that Purple Cap, and the New Zealand all-rounder beat her Barbadian counter-part to it. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur saved her best for the summit clash, powering the Mumbai Indians to what turned out to be a winning total. And then there was the rest of the team - Amanjot Kaur, the eventual Emerging Player Of The Tournament, had all the reason to be crowned with it - she chipped in with the bat every other game, was immensely tight with the ball, using the deck to good effect, and was almost everywhere on the field, saving crucial runs for the team. Parunika Sisodia and Sanskriti Gupta were a couple of top finds in the spin department. Sajeevan Sajana had her moments with the bat, almost pulling off the impossible against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in MI's last league game. G Kamalini, all of sixteen years, went shoulder to shoulder with the best female atheletes of the game and had the time of her life this season. And while she was relatively quiet with the bat, Yastika Bhatia was sharp and onto any chance she received behind the stumps. In a tournament where the quality of fielding had been a concern, the Mumbai Indians stood out on that aspect by a long way, and the case was no different tonight.

The Delhi Capitals began the final in the best way possible. They were in the game for a large part of the first innings, faltered in the middle-overs of the run-chase, and while there was hope going into the final stages of the game, they just couldn't get past the line. Three finals, three losses... Meg Lanning, a serial winner in its truest sense, will have to wait. She and Shafali Verma led the way with the bat for the Capitals throughout the season. That's what came back to haunt them in the final - in spite of a relatively lesser target to chase, the Capitals couldn't get going after the departure of Lanning and Shafali early on. Marizanne Kapp, the fighter that she is, gave it all she had with both ball and bat, keeping the Capitals in the game with both. As has been the case with them in the preceding finals, they were just up against a better team on the main night. Third time doesn't prove to be lucky for them either - while it'll take a whole lot for them to recover and re-group for the next season, the Capitals must not lose belief. They've done a whole lot right in three editions, it's the matter of getting past that line. They just need to put that figurative extra yard in, which, given their commendable coaching and the rest of support staff to go with the quality of players in their roster, might just be coming next year.

12:33 A.M. IST - Time for the celebrations. A cloud of light-blue confetti engulfs the presentation arena as the coveted WPL trophy is raised! The youngsters are at the heart of the celebrations - Sanskriti, Saika Ishaque, Kamalini, Sajana - members of a truly special family are having the time of their lives on the podium. Memories of a lifetime for so, so many people - among the players, the back-room staff... a group that just knows when and how to step up.

Harmanpreet Kaur (Mumbai Indians captain): "I think it was a great team effort. I would like to congratulate the Delhi team. They gave us a tough fight. The way we played today... we fought till the last ball. At the end of the day, I am really happy. It was not easy when I went in to bat. But I had Nat (Sciver-Brunt) on the other side. We tried to keep things simple and easy. We took calculated risks and that helped us put that partnership. I thought 150 was not enough for DC. But in pressure games like these, 150 looks like 180. Credit goes to the bowlers. Hayley always creates chances. The way Saika Ishaque bowled was really heartening to see. We had some meetings, where we tried to make the roles of the youngsters very clear to them. Today, for example, Saika did a good job. Before that in the season, Sanskriti and Amanjot did really well too. It means a lot to win this. First season, we did a lot of things right. Then, things did not go right in the last season. We tried to keep it simple this time. Credit to the support staff too."

Now, Mumbai Indians to receive their mementos. Harmanpreet Kaur collects the winner's cheque.

Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals captain): "We have had another good season and unfortunately we couldn't get over the line and congrats to Mumbai - you have been excellent through the season. We could not get it together with the bat, 150 was a good target for us. Another partnership for a couple of overs might have given us a chance. We are all pretty disappointed. I heard someone saying Mumbai might be tired. But it's about performing on the night and Mumbai were too good tonight. We haven't been able to put our best performance in the final on the board, which is disappointing but that's cricket. It has just not happened for us. We are bitterly disappointed, we put ourselves in a good position but couldn't finish it off."

That will be followed by the runner-up's medal and cheque, which will be presented to Delhi Capitals.

Now the officials get on the stage to receive their mementos . The fact that we did not notice the umpires much today testifies that they did a good job on the big night.

Natalie Sciver-Brunt is adjudicated as the "Most Valuable Player of the season" too. Here's what she has to say: So pleased. Been a great year for me in the WPL. Came into it on the back of a lot of cricket, just happy to be here. I ride the highs as much as I can and there are the lows. That's cricket. Any given day you get some runs or a great ball. We have a great amount of all-rounders in our team, some world-class players who can stand up for the team. Very happy to be a part of the team, had a great tournament. It's so special to be part of a franchise that has become family. We're really really happy.
