Rajat Patidar is the Player of the Match as well, here is what he has to say : The manner in which we played the tournament so far, a lot of the credit goes to our bowlers. It is not an ordinary task to keep the batters silent in a surface and stadium like this one which has always been a nightmare for the bowlers. The message was clear to the unit that we wanted to chase in this game. I have always tried to focus on imparting maximum impact with my batting. The idea is to also recognise which bowlers can I target. It is easier for me because the kind of players that I am surrounded with right now, we have spent a lot of time together which makes our job even more fun as we achieve the successes along the way.

Ayush Badoni (Delhi captain): I think we were a few runs short. We needed to play a little more aggressively in the power play, but our batters did not quite get the calculations right. However, they tried. We went well in this campaign, but we could not get the job done, so that is the disappointment.

Madhya Pradesh reach their 2nd final in SMAT history!

The first ball of the chase saw Ishant Sharma picking the 150th wicket of his T20 career. He brought the quality of a 100 Test matches into this contest as he picked up the 2nd wicket of the innings in only his 2nd over. It was beautiful to see what the senior International bowler was able to extract on this surface.

Harsh Gawli produced some wonderful shots alongside Harpreet Singh Bhatia to ensure Delhi did not lose any more wickets in the powerplay. But the first ball of the 7th over saw Himanshu Chauhan send Gawli back.

Rajat Patidar has come out to bat at number 4 on 5 out of the 7 matches in this tournament. After scoring 3 consecutive half centuries in the early stages of the competition against Meghalaya, Bengal and Punjab - here was an opportunity for the RCB retained batter to play a captain's knock. And he did not disappoint one bit.

Among all batters to have atleast scored 500 T20 runs in 2024, Rajat Patidar's strike rate of 176 is 5th best only behind Abhishek Sharma (198), Andre Russell (190), Fin Allen and Travis Head (177) - The stand between Patidar and Harpreet reached 50 and Patidar celebrated that landmark with a cover drive against Harsh Tyagi which took MP’s score to triple digits.

Patidar brought up his half century in 23 balls - his 4th of the competition and he established his authority in this chase. The fans who turned up at the Chinnaswamy enjoyed the entertainment from a batter who will turn up as a home player at this venue in IPL 2025. Delhi have been outplayed comprehensively in this game.
