So that will be all from this BPL match from Sylhet. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. This is the pair of Pradeep and Bidipto, saying good bye. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Nasir Hossain (Dhaka Dominators captain): I feel really pleased with this win! We are still in the playoff race and the full credit for that goes to our players. We beat one of the best sides of the tournament, so we do feel that we can beat any other side going forward. Our openers batted really well, provided us with a tremendous start and laid the foundation for us middle-order batters to finish the job by playing normal cricket. The pitch became better to bat on and we thrived on it in the second innings.
Mohammad Mithun is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: Was looking for a big score, thanks to the coaching staff for helping me promote up the order. Results were not going our way, but the next two matches will be crucial for us.
Shakib Al Hasan (Fortune Barishal captain): Wicket was pretty good to bat on, we couldn't put enough runs on the board and didn't bowl according to the plan, we were not up to the mark today. Hard to tell, as I said, we were not up to the mark, we had to play a good game of cricket to win the game and we didn't do that, they capitalized on that. As long as we're winning it's fine, when we don't win there are so many things to think of.
Dhaka Dominators - 157/5, beat Fortune Barishal - 156/8, by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare.
Mohammad Mithun 54 (36) | Amir Hamza - 2/22 Anamul Haque 42 (35) | Shakib Al Hasan - 2/18
So mathematically at least, Dhaka Dominators are alive in the race for the top four, with this comfortable win, on a pitch that was not the best to bat on. But some positive knocks from the top order and some brave stroke-play from the middle order helped the side from Bangladesh's capital, finish their Sylhet leg on a high!
Dhaka needed a good start and that they got! Both Soumya Sarkar and, his opening partner for today, Mohammad Mithun, were superb in the power play, scoring 55 runs without loss!
Pace on the ball in this, the second innings, had to hit the hard length more often than not. But unfortunately for Fortune Barishal, their seamers got the lengths, more than anything else, wrong on this surface.
There were far too many deliveries that were either too short or too full and the fast bowlers seemed reluctant to take pace off the ball, for some strange reason!
The decision to bowl Mohammad Wasim against Alex Blake, when the left-hander was struggling to score against spin, proved costly for Shakib Al Hasan. He got taken for three boundaries on the trot to take his side ever closer to victory.
Young Abdullah Al Manun was impressive with his courageous shots at just the right time, so he will surely be a big investment going forward for this franchise.
Of course, another composed knock from skipper Nasir Hossain and a commanding half-century from wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Mithun were on show, to give their team a much needed triumph!
18.5 Sunzamul Islam to Usman Ghani, THERE IT IS! Dominators seal the game in a must win encounter. Short and slides into Ghani on the off-stump, on the backfoot he punched it through the covers for a single. Dominators still in with a chance provided they win all their remaining games.
Scores are level.
18.4 Sunzamul Islam to Nasir Hossain, skips down the track for the length delivery, Nasir punched it down to long-off for one. Scores are level now!
18.3 Sunzamul Islam to Nasir Hossain, tossed up delivery on the stumps, Nasir lunges to defend.
18.2 Sunzamul Islam to Usman Ghani, short into Ghani, on the backfoot he uses his wrist and whips it to deep mid-wicket for another single.
